You can get that old clock fixed. It's just a quartz movement (in '74).

Cheers,

I'm not certain about that, Ray. The '74 clock I put in my '76 was in my "spares bin" for at least three decades. It replaced a '72 clock I installed when the '76 was brand new (the '72's lack of a "cross-hairs" face didn't bother me until the clock stopped). The '74, of course, was also broken, and North Hollywood replaced the guts with a quartz unit because they said they could not repair the original electro-mechanical mechanism (but others could).

I have previously heard this "quartz-in-'74" concept, but I believe it may be based on already-replaced mechanisms. After all, tii clocks have been failing since the day they were installed -- if not sooner! I have a '74 tii spare clock and, if I can locate it, I'll take a look at what's inside (assuming I don't have to butcher the clock).

Whichever way '74 tii clocks arrived from the factory, the clock's innards are easily replaced with a quartz movement.

Best regards,

Steve

Hmm. Well it's certainly less mechanical than '73 (btw, mine is still working -- let's jinx it :D ).

True, I don't know firsthand about the later clock(s). Other than as you said, the movement is fairly easily replace.

Cheers,

Ray

Stop reading this! Don't you have anything better to do?? :P
Two running things. Two broken things.

I am sorry, I meant the ones that attach to the top of the ceiling not the windshield
