I see garage renovation in my future

Ha.

No Ray.  The eye-talian car has a miss.  I'm trying to figure out why.  I think it's a fuel issue (carb).  Thought it was electrical - removed the dizzy caps and cleaned contacts and rotors.  Who knew that it would take an hour to remove 2 caps and clean contacts and rotors!  Unreal.  Anyway - the problem improved, but didn't go away.  Which is why it makes me think fuel and not electrical.

The 2002 is on top for a reason Jim.  If you look at the right hand lift, inside that box are my Weber DCOE 40's that were rebuilt.  Remember?  The plan is to pull the head on the 2002 and install the other head I have in my house, as well as the dual webers.  It will be easier with that car on top, as it will only have to move up and down while I do the work and it is immobile.

It's nice having all of my stuff at home again.  The garage seems really crowded, but I'm way happier.

This is for you Jim.  DCOE conversion on hold.  Ferrari is running bad - I may have to rebuild 4 DCNF's first.  Spent 3 hours last weekend replacing caps, rotors and plug wires.  Didn't fix the problem.  I see a lot of weeping around the bases of the carbs - so I bought 4 gasket kits, as well as sealed throttle shaft bearings, and I may be pulling all the carbs off of the F-car.

Dang.

Italians upstairs, germans downstairs.

Ha.  No.  I have a lot of light though.

I have 4 two bulb fluorescent fixtures above the lifts.  On a separate switch, I have 2 - dual bulb fluorescent  fixtures along the back wall, a 6 bulb fixture over my work bench, and the old 2 bulb fixture that used to be over my bench now over my tool boxes.

BUT - with the lifts in place, I could still use an extension cord and the little hanging lights.  Or the LED on a magnet I bought somewhere online.

When the cars "underneath" are out, and all cars are down, it's like the sun in there.

I think about all the time I spent working on only the 2002 in there with a single 100 W incandescent bulb.  That's how I did the entire exhaust on that car.

Since this thread is still active, I'll post a related question here instead of starting a new thread.

I'm planning a garage remodel that will likely include a lift that I'd like to serve as both storage and maintenance. I've done enough research to know that the 4 post is probably better suited to storage while the 2 post is more versatile for repair projects. My preference is for the two post lift to make under car and suspension more accessible.

Is anyone storing their 2002 on a 2 post lift during the winter? Does the car hold up okay to resting on the frame for an extended periods? Is it hard on the lift?

Here's a discussion on 4 post vs. 2 post at Pelican Parts.  Talking about Porsche's, but still somewhat relevant:

Thanks! The ramps one of the posters (rpc356) used to make his 2-post lift a drive on ramp for storage is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for.

Not sure they're necessary but good to know it's doable if I decide I don't like the car hanging down from the lifting pads.

No worries.  I thought that you'd like that.

I'm partial to the 4 post lifts.  There's a "bridge" you can get for them and use a small hydraulic jack on to lift the car up separate.

I like that both options exist. Each has its place. I can see one of each working well in my garage. That would be more spaces than cars though. For now...

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
