Hi All,

A continuation of my last post. Here are some pictures that the seller sent to me. I have sent him an email with questions about the jets, venuries, float, butterfly, and history of rebuilds.....

He says they came off his 02 that he bought from a close friend, so he should be able to find the answers to my questions relitively quickly. He is swaping out motors and going for injection. He says they worked just fine when they came off about 3 months ago.

Woops....

The guy is asking $600, negotiable.

Includes carbs, manifold, and linkage.

if the number on the other carb is dcoe15, then they are matched front and back set.

should you buy? yes, but only if you are putting them on a very modified M10. even if they are choked down to the min, 45's are not a good choice for a stock or nearly stock engine.

the dcoe 15/16's are THE best carbs for the 2002. i ran a couple sets on stock 2002, choked to 30mm, and they ran great. the idle progression holes in the 15/16's are unique to these carbs. if you get the alpina cable linkage with this set for 600, that is a deal. 5.0 aux venturis, which the 45's will take, but the 40's will not, make a big difference in overall driveability, especially idle progression. even without the cable linkage, that is a good price for 15/16's as long as they are not fubar inside.

Couple caveats when buying used Webers...

Always assume they need a rebuild.. most do. Don't get blind-sided by another $75 for the rebuild kits...

Also, unlike Dellortos, Webers can actually wear out beyond repair.

The Accelerator Pump on the Dellorto is a Diaphram Pump and can rebuilt to spec using a new Diaphram.

But the Accelerator Pump on a Weber is a Piston-Type running in a machined Bore in the Carb Body. This results in metal-to-metal contact and eventually the Bore gets worn beyond the point where it can make a good seal with the Piston. You cannot re-sleeve this bore to get the specs back and the carb will simply work worse and worse.

Cheers!
