I just saw this online the other day but I cannot recall if it was on eBay or craigslist. The description was exactly the same. Anyway, it did have a bunch of pictures at that time just as he mentions in the ad. Odd.

My 2002 was manufactured on September 15th, 1971 and delivered on October 22nd, 1971 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Granada, paint code 023. It was sold on New Years Eve December 31st 1971.

i appreciate the link but how does an old ebay ad assist anyone not reading this forum that happens, happen to read this thread to get a link to an old auction...

is it just me...it would save me a heck of a lot of time and energy to simply advertise carpet for sale and wait for anyone interested to ask me if it's purple or yellow

Esty;

this car was on E-bay and included a lot of pictures. There is no need to try and understand; the term TLC was a litttle bit of a stretch; yep, TLC, some more TLC, some more TLC, some PAINTING, WELDING, WIRING, FIXING, and a bunch of other words that can be spelled out.

No need to bash folks, I relisted the car and did not realize ebay did not attach my pics, when I say TLC its because from being a structural mechanic in the Marine Corps working on F/18 fighter jets, to now becoming a shade tree mechanic, I can honestly say a decent body shop or garage wrencher can replace a few floor pieces and have a good daily driver, OF COURSE if you want to fully restore this car it will require yes a few more TLCs, but overall I tried to be as honest as possible because through this forum I met a ton of great folks and acquired a bit of excellent new and used parts, also have a greater respect for these little machines and their capabilities, I am still on the fence about selling the car just haven't had the time to really turn the wrenches as I would like to, ( I guess the anxiety of wanting it finished coupled with the limited space of time allotted has given rise to the reality a full resto is never going to happen and a 10 foot looker might be all I can muster, which was certainly not my initial thoughts and dreams when I purchased.

Thanks for hearing my $0.02 maybe through both kind and harsh words I will find the energy and time to finsih it.

    BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

    Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

    History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

    In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

    BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
