got new engine in and running great

can't remember the tachometer wires

there are two wires dangling near the distributor

and I am sure they had something to do with it

I have the oil pressure sender hooked up and working

but where could these other two go?

connect them together and tacho still not working

they come down in the same small bundle as the oil pressure lead

wiring diagram text is too tiny for my aging eyes

and I don't want to get reading glasses yet

The male spade you're looking for, for both the black wire from the coil and the black wire that goes to the tach, is right along side the condensor on the dizzy.

On the back of the tach there are three male spade connectors and the wire from the dizzy connects to the middle of the three.

Hope this helps.

i have petronix- so there is no condenser

so I will connect the two wires near the dist. to the neg. coil?

i should not have to go behind the instrument panel, as this was all working

fine before

will try this

The spade connector you're looking for is attached to the body of the dizzy by a screw, it's near the condensor, not attached to it. That spade connector should be there whether you run Pertronix or stock points.

If it's not there, you're on your own to get the tach working. I'm not sure of a solution, though getting one off a non-functioning dizzy from someone on this board would work.

thanks

i will look at this when I get home

but the condenser was nowhere near the dist.; it was mounted right by the coil.

at any rate you are saying there should be a terminal on the dist. for the tacho wire?

I will look tonight.

thanks again

In this link, look at the first picture down, on the left. On the right side of the dizzy, in that pic, you'll see the connection that the two mated wires connect to.

As I said above, one wire goes to the coil, though I think with Pertronix you may have a different setup. But, in any case, that's where the tach wire connects.
