E30 Rearview upgrade question

Is this as easy to install as it appears. I'm looking to upgrade.

I've researched a few sites on it. It looks fairly involved, at least or me.

Any thoughts.

The mirror itself has the same catch/fastening arrangement as the '02 mirror and is a direct push in replacement. The only thing that takes any work at all is connecting the wiring for the lights. I ran a tap to the dome light -- works great.

This is a quick snap of the e30 mirror in my '70 project (ignore my finger in the viewfinder) before putting in the headliner.

Thanks

Great information and the finger in the photo is fine. I do that often. This will be my next upgrade.

Slightly OT, but if you're going to a pick-n-pull for your mirror, grab yourself a set of E30 sun visors (and clips) while you're at it. They fit perfectly in an '02.

But they're black on both sides, like the E28 visors that I've read fit. Too glaring a difference against the whiter headliner, for me.
