  1. That's incorrect. The 1804 and the 2004 eventually replaced the 1800SA and 2000SA in 1973.
  2. I didn't just figure it out. I've known that 'image is everything', to a lot of people, for quite some time.
  3. I know that's the way that they spell it. I just think it's a little pretentious to make a conscious effort to type it in all caps.
  4. To me, typing Alpina in all caps, in the informal world of the interweb, is like typing ///Motorsport. It's kind of silly.
  5. It works just fine for me. ~sigh~ Hey bud, Did you lift your avatar idea from uhm say one of my posts? :-) To be honest, I have no recollection of my avatar's origin.
  6. I stumbled across this thread where the original poster is wondering exactly what kind of deteriorating 2002 he's got in front of him. Its VIN / chassis# doesn't fall between 1680001 and 1696448, so that excludes it from being a ti. The original poster says that the car has all of the Maxi parts.. (including the seats and duel fuel tanks etc) ..I'm wondering if anyone out there has ever seen.. (or might know a little bit more about) ..this particular car. Here's a link to the thread.. http://forum.bmw-02-club.de/mix_entry.php?id=123084 Here's a link that has some insight into the unknown world of the 2002 Maxis. http://classicandvintagebmw.tumblr.com/19682002maxi And here's some pics from the original poster. What do you think?
  7. I'd be happy to help you sell your car. Just submit all the needed info to the email address in this link. http://classicandvintagebmw.tumblr.com/forsalewtb
  8. I wonder if Japan had/has certain emissions standards. This is what RealOEM has listed for a European 1500's exhaust system. yep - looks the same as my 1600 came with - same design as what's available now, but a smaller bore. Are you saying Japan had two centre boxes as per that earlier diagram? Plus it's not going to effect emissions, only noise, and they're not exactly noisy! RealOEM doesn't have a diagram of a Japanese 1500 exhaust system, so it's hard to be sure if that's the case. I bet the guy at BMW - M10 Life knows the answer to that. http://bmw021800.jugem.jp/

  10. You've got keen eye sight. I finally see what you're talking about in regards to the half shafts. I'm not sure about the sump either.
  11. That's a good question. I've never been anywhere near a 1500 in person, so I don't have the slightest idea.
  12. No problem. I tried to upload a Japanese 1500/1800 brochure as well but the file's are too big. Here's a link to it. http://tinyurl.com/3ufe4qp
  13. Sounds like business as usual. rey949, if the convertible that you're referring to looks like this one, it's a 3200CS convertible. Or should I say 'the' 3200CS convertible, since only one was made.
  14. Tight n' shiny! (Edit: my pic's not showing up.. too big) (Edit: 3'rd time's a charm)
  15. Cool. Thanks. I'll make sure that he takes all of those events into consideration. Thanks again!
  16. Thanks so much for the suggestions, you guys! It's very much appreciated!
  17. Great! Thanks, I appreciate it. There's not a whole lot of info out there on these cylinder heads. So, I appreciate being able to use your thorough description. I have no problem at all with you linking to the Berg-Spyder piece either. It seems as if these Apfelbeck heads and Berg-Spyders both fall into the 'as rare as hen teeth category', so the info on both might as well be shared together. I took your article one step further and posted a link over on Facebook a little while ago.. http://tinyurl.com/3fz2ukt ..now everybody's going to think we're in cahoots.
  18. They were also used on the two Group 7 hillclimbers from 1967 and 1968. http://classicandvintagebmw.tumblr.com/g767g768 Flyingjolly, your piece on the Apfelbeck heads was so descriptive that I linked to your write up in the above link. I tried to PM you to ask for your permission to do so but I got a message saying the PM'ing is disabled on the FAQ. There's no email info in your profile either. If my linking to your blog is a hassle, let me know and I'll remove it. Thanks!
  19. My friend Dylan is an automotive photographer from South Africa. He's in the process of planning an 8,500 mile trek throughout the U.S. where he's made arrangements with various car collectors to do extensive photo shoots of their collections. Dylan isn't doing this to make any money, but instead he's volunteering his passion, time and efforts in order to help a charitable organization for children called Operation Bobbi Bear. One of the more notorious car collections on his list is Ken Lingenfelter's collection of 150 collector cars. I just recently suggested a trip to Ed Ullom's collection in Mechanicsburg, PA. If you know of any other collections that might be worthy / willing to be photographed for a really good cause feel free to leave a comment in this thread and I'll make the suggestion to Dylan. If you can help out in any other way, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Below is a link to the site that Dylan has set up for his project which is called 'Roadtrip for a Reason'. If you feel that you're unable to do anything to assist Dylan, please consider sharing this thread or his website with someone who might be able to. The sharing of this information alone is a big help and a fantastic way of giving to a really, really good cause. Thanks for your time and consideration! http://www.roadtrip12.com/?p=132 <~~Roadtrip for a Reason http://www.bobbibear.org.za/ <~~Operation Bobbi Bear Site
