how does it come out?

on my mercedes W123 it some out with 2 pieces of bent wire

but on the 2002 it is very tight!

I don't want to break anything. any tricks?

If you mean the gauge cluster....reach up from below and undo the speedo cable. There are then two threaded bolts with circular nuts on them...they are finger tight. Remove the nuts and push the gauge cluster forward, you may have to wiggle it a bit. Don't force it! Once it's loose, while sitting in the driver's seat, you'll reach behind the cluster and disconnect the wires.

ex had a w123 and i used to own a w124. our 02 clusters are nowhere near as difficult as the mercedes!

follow the directions like the post above says. first time out its gonna require a little pressure to get it out, but its not difficult. you might find it more difficult to unhook the 12v going to the tach

the IMPORTANT KEY to proper cluster removal,

with both the M-B w123 and the 02-

is to disconnect the speedo cable BEFORE PULLING ON THE CLUSTER!

Pulling on the cluster and speedo cable stretches the cable outer

housing - causing irratic speedo operation - or worse

reach your hand up behind and disconnect the cable first,

and last after reinstallation - the cable needs to be absolutely

tension free
