steering question

back to my project after long hiatus

I installed a rebuilt steering box, new links etc.

question, should the pitman arms hit against both stops on the subframe?

as you can see from this photo. when the steering box runs out of travel,

the arm is not against the stop. if i move the arm on the splined shaft, then the gap is on the idler side. i cant get it to hit the stop on both sides

any ideas? is this a problem?

It looks like your subframe is bent where the stop is so that stop is further than it should. At least on the side that's visible on your picture.

Here is a picture of good subframe. It should be flat with just the edges bent down.
