My bet is your speedo cable is broken or loose.

are inop, I'd suspect the cable.

If the speedo is broken and the odometer is still functioning, it's in the speedo head.

If the odometer isn't working and the speedo is, there's a little plastic gear inside that's a common failure--you can take it to a speedo repair place or order a new gear from odometergears.com and fix it yourself.

Both not working...I would begin with a look at the cable end behind the dash to see if its connected correctly or if the back end of the speedo is stripped out. The dash pod is held in by two hand-tight nuts and the speedo cable has a similar hand-tight nut. If you unscrew them the gauge pod comes out (there is a plug and a tach wire to disconnect too) and you can get a clear view of the back side of the gauges and cable. Takes about 5 minutes to pull it out inspect it and put it back. My speedometer was all stripped out so the square cable was just spinning without turning the gauge. Could just be a loose connection too. If its not a cable or obvious issue behind the gauge it would be inside the gauge or the other end of the cable at the transmission. There is a gear in the transmission that could be your problem too.
