Thanks for the offer! I did it solo and it was far easier than I thought it would be.
Next on the plate is to do the transmission mount so that the new Getrag 245 is properly aligned with @jimk's driveshaft. Now that the motor is in place, I have a flurry of little projects that need doing - and maybe soon I can hear what it sounds like again.
I've got a rather comprehensive collection of tools as well if you find yourself needing something that isn't readily available.

I wish I would have seen this earlier! I took all of last week off and could have helped. I have an ATV jack that I usually put the engine on to help lift/lower it... Regardless, woohoo!

If they're GCs, they aren't installed correctly, I don't think.
Yeah, I've had a couple sets of GC, Vorshlag. Definitely not either of those- at least not that I've seen.

I just got to get my car running...
I can pick you up on the way- but just so you know, my car is a little loud, and the conversation with Jim will be focused on transient throttle tuning with the Haltech. But the root beer at A&W is pretty good...

That was Dan Quigley's car. @coloincaalpine RIP 2021 I've seen it in person, at least when it was still here in CO and Dan was showing it to me. It's cool, it's low. It's a couple of different colors of white.

At one point, I bought a used e30 wiring harness just to have some connectors. Note though, they're not all the same.

Agree on that point. My 2016 340 has a terrible pedal in the default driving mode, but in sport it's normal.
When an EFI ECU can handle it, the pedal/throttle progressive opening rate can be set to one's liking.
Did you get it up and running yet, Jim?

I’ve seen such HeathKit Class A amps pulling surprisingly big money nowadays…
Well, ya know, it's worth more because it's vintage. (TBF, might be something to it, though...)

I built a Radio Shack amplifier once..
I've built a headphone amp, from some schematic I found online, to fit in an Altoids tin. Worked ok, but I had a little buzz... Almost 20 years ago...? Man.

Yeah, HeathKit mono-block Class A amps was actually a thing… they still fetch $$ nowadays.
Do you still run them? How'd they sound?

Thinking about the Nelson Pass Amp Camp Amps; building a pair to run as mono blocks, just as something fun to do if I get bored...
Would be really fun to build a 300b amp, but fuck, the amp kit is a couple grand and the tubes are another 1500 or something?

It's amazing how being able to make stuff changes how one sees the world.

I've got adjustable GC Koni's for an e30m3 in the back of my car, well the front, too. Seems to ride fine to me, and while they might complain about my driving, they don't complain about it being harsh.
Don't know about the Bilsteins in particular, but e30 stuff doesn't seem too bad in general.
Oh, note; my suspension is all e30m3, so I don't know if they'll bolt into your car. YCarMV.

For me, it's almost always PayPal and paying the extra couple percent for the purchase protection. I think I bought something from Marshal and just did it as friends, but he's not scamming me out of a hundred bucks. I suppose I only buy stuff on here from people I've interacted with for a while... @ray_? Yeah, always use protection. 😘 (And what's with all the 320i / e10 shit? Obviously I missed something...)

I’m going through this currently.
I was able to pick up a S14 with a brand new Evo Crank for $11k. The motor had a spun rod bearing and needed a rebuild. Here is my break down so far:
-$1,200 for CP Pistons 94.5mm
-$1,200 for arrow rods
-$1,200 for Evo Crank Bearings (had to source out of Europe as none of the US BMW parts suppliers could provide them)
-$350 for OEM factory 2.5L head gasket (again sourced out of Europe)
-$1,200 New timing chain, guide rails and tensioners
-$700 new OEM water pump
-$2-3,000 for labor (estimated)
Holy shit, 1200 for bearings?

Toyota Yaris GR front seats (my21) in. Needs some minor tweaks but i'm happy.
Required quite a bit of work to make them fit. Width was good but height needed some metal work. Where like 10 cm too high. Now about oe height or 1 cm lower.
You guys already have GR Yaris cars for parts... Who knows if we'll even get the car here.

If you decide you aren't going to use it, I'd be interested.

At first I just assumed it was a render; that's amazing.

Capt Obvious here, don't mind me.

This is a question we can't definitively answer-
I managed to get 13" zero offset Panasports to fit over the E24 calipers
with just peripheral grinding of the sharp 'edges' of the casting,
which were pretty obviously superfluous. I've ground a number
pretty aggressively and not yet struck oil. It's easy to avoid the
bores, if you disassemble the calipers,
but you have to intuit where the drillings are
for the passageways.
t
Do you pronounce it 'super-fluous?' One of the many reasons why people look at me funny...
