  1. So i have a 73 with stock bumpers and i hate them more than anything else on the car. I also don't fancy the front bumper delete. This is my ideal set up for bumpers: SO: - Is it better to take my bumpers with the trim and long ends to a shop and have them create a shorter one piece front and rear bumper(how much would cost)? or - Buy a set from 02bumpers and live with the over rider covers on them. Also anyone have bracket experience for moving the 73 bumper flush to the car? JB
  2. They should have got a round tail.
  3. Interested in the header if you can give me some more info.
  4. Wooohooo! I did it. Thanks for all the encouragement, I was in the dumps over not getting it right. Turns out my flywheel is on 180 degrees backwards. Wonder how that happened.... cough 5 speed swap. IMG_3217.MOV Now does anyone have any 32/36 stock 73 curve suggestions!
  5. Totally got everything on the app side connected. Loaded the tii curve to start with. The car just cranked a lot and then backfired so I'm assuming I'm backwards.
  6. Car ran great. 008 dizzy with points. Had bright idea. Bought 123tune W/ BT. Read forum posts. Installed borsch blue coil. Found TDC on flywheel. Removed perfectly working Dizzy. Installed and wired 123 per very tiny manual. Car cranks but wont start. Face palm. I included a picture so you can dumby check me if you would be so kind. 3 questions: 1 - what am I doing when I physically turn the dizzy cw vs ccw and how large of an impact is this having on timing? 2 - the 123 dizzy 'green light' zone is rather large, is it just a ballpark? 3 - should I just pull the valve cover and find TDC that way, remove the 123, pop it back in facing 1 on the dial? Additinal bonus curiosity question - if I have the timing set backwards and my 'tdc' was lined up with the four cylinder, What would happen if I switched the plugs( other than being ghetto/wrong).
  7. Thanks guys! Drivers side motor mount had come unscrewed, so a lot of wiggling pulled the hose out. It's setup correctly, I think I lost power from the engine moving to an odd spot. Crazy stuff!
  8. So this popped off today when I went into reverse and went backwards and right. No idea why, maybe the tubing is too short. Lost a significant amount of power, luckily I was like 2 blocks down hill to get home. Anyways I have no idea what it is/what it does. Seems oil related. -what should I check after reassembling? Thanks in advance, because you guys always come thru! JB
  9. Ugh I'm out of town, sucks. Thanks for invite.
  10. Greg and John, Yo dudes I would super enjoys some hangout time with other 2002ers. I'm on a out of town project until march 20th( may change) and I also don't have the Facebook. I'll shoot you guys a text when I get back in if that sounds good to y'all. P.S. I'm north in the woodlands, but certainly don't mind driving.
  11. Thanks for all the helps guys, the switch lights up and everything seems to be working like it should. checking out the 530i switch as an option later.
  12. Hmmm, I did not that I know of when I received it, but that isn't to say it should not. So potentially I should hunt down a third wire red/black wire?
  13. Hey dudes when I redid my interior I removed my working defrost switch and now I don't which terminals I should be plugging the wires into. Please advice. I know that brown is ground: should that be the center terminal on the switch? And which terminal does the blue/green wire plug into: 4 options, center terminal, S labeled one(picture right), 31 + labeled one(picture top) or the non labeled switch(picture left) ?
  14. Hey Greg thanks for the invite, sorta bummed no H-Town ppl what to join me Ill let you know if i can make it down, all depends on work.
  15. Hey do any Houston guys want to do a local meet up this month? I thought I would be fun to meet and connect, even if it's just one other person. I live up in the woodlands. Let me know!
  16. Guys thanks for the input. I guess I'll just setup all my other pieces I can easy do myself before the rebuild( headers, exhaust, etc.). Additionally how cost effective is MM or Korman vs using a local machine shop, I'm in Houston so they should be plentiful. I like the idea of a korman rebuild, but it's only a pride and reputation thing. Thanks again dudes, amazing community!
  17. Hey dudes, I've been absent from the boards for a while, but I completed a full 5 speed and interior resto thanks to guides from the pros here. The car is running great, engine feels strong and I can squeal the tires when I stomp the pedal. Anyways, the engine is setup with a 32/36 that I want to swap to dual 40s and i would like to install 292 cam. Maybe new pistons later on. Anyways questions to address: - are the 40s with the 292 a good marriage? Should I just go for a 300( I drive the car around town and enjoy being on the highway too, no crazy hills or excessive stop and go)? I guess I don't completely understand what the degree on the cam is defining. If anyone has litterateur on the subject I'd love to read it. - can I change the cam myself( I'm great at stuff with the help of guides but can't find anything)? Do I need to remove the head to do so? Additionally is it worth just changing the cam and nothing else to start? JB
  18. I know that stance works has a scene in Thailand, how big I'm not sure. Maybe try the stance nation boards?
  19. Hey guys just wanted to say thanks, just got the transmission in today. In reality it wasn't that hard, I did however have a very easy to over look (to the bad mechanic) problem. I had an extra sleeve( the ones that go in-between the bell housing and motor) that the bolts run threw, my transmission had 2 and my motor had pulled one from my 4 speed when i removed it: The result was 2 pieces of metal that could never join together leaving a 2-3 inch gap. Aside from that I also took a large 2x4 and used it to straighten out the engine from the passengers side. Cheers friends!
  20. Price:: 350 Location: : FLEEEEBAY http://www.ebay.com/itm/Recaro-Seats/182040765808?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D35389%26meid%3D27041dd2827c41a18179e8c8234f64df%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D111902377684 Not mine, but if didn't have a set of seats this looks like a decent deal.
  21. Hey guys this morning I felt much better and got back under the car. After lowering the subframe everything is in line now and i just have to wiggle things in to place, hopefully finishing the transmission job tomorrow. 2 question before i do: 1 Does the flywheel go on in a particular way concerning the ball bearing on it or the OT line? 2 Should i place any grease on the throw out bearing arms. Also here is my glorious triple jack setup. Yes i only have 1 good jack.
  22. Location: : fleebay Not mine, no affiliation. Too bad its only 3.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Three-Alpina-Ronal-BMW-E21-2002-Tii-15-X-6-Alloy-Wheels-Rims-4-x-100-/121903525405?hash=item1c62042e1d:g:d~YAAOSwll1WzJx6&vxp=mtr
