I was cruising in my 74tii this morning, on the 210 Freeway in Sunland. A beautiful 630CSI pulls up alongside, many thumbs-up and huge smiles between me and the two guys in the 630 .....

so, this morning I left Simi Valley enroute La Mirada, cruisin' in my '74tii.
I'm 7 miles from home (and 1 mile from LimeySteve's shop) and I hit a small bump, followed by a Big Clunk in the up-front right side. Everything is running normal, feels normal. I go over some railroad tracks, another Big Clunk. I baby the tii home, no problems.
Up goes the right side, wheel off, and I look around. Takes a minute to finally see the problem: the rubber bushing which goes around the sway bar has worked it's way out of it's restraint. Fortunately it is still wrapped around the sway bar so it wasn't lost.
I check the left side: that rubber bushing is halfway out of it's restraint.

32 years ago I installed those sway bars ..... from now on I'll be keeping a closer eye on those rubber bushings.

ma.jomaa,
yep, type of car you show up in isn't a concern ..... ours is a gathering for those who like BMW's, and it's a chance to actually meet a few of the people who post on this Forum.

Dan,
once you get all the little "distractions" tended to and are up and running strong .....
Head east on the 50, then the Hwy 49 twisties south to Sonora ..... then north to I-80. You'll understand what the 2002 is all about.
Cheers,
Carl

NICE !!!
the bodywork looks straight and ding-less ...... at this point in the car's life, who needs paint.
--- looks like a passenger-side steel crumple above the grill piece ??
and all the bumper rubber looks amazing after getting a constant 13-yr AZ suntan.
and mirror on the passenger side.
and the trunk-deck roundel has more paint than mine does !!
and all the grill pieces are there.
and only one broken running light lens (right front).
NICE !!!

Carl

now THAT is a very marketable product !!!

Personally, I'm a "no upgrade" kinda guy. "Upgrade" to my rather narrow viewpoint just means another tank of fresh gas so I can go driving somewhere, the bit & pieces for normal maintenance (plugs, points, oil, filters, car wax, ArmorAll, car cover, that sort of stuff), and occasionally even washing the windshield so I can see where I'm going.

Steve,
I'll suggest 2 Carbon Canyon videos"
1) heading east for lunch at CB
2) heading west enroute home

when I did the 5-series fuel pump install project I added an in-line filter on the fuel pump inlet line (i.e., between tank and pump). Clean gas is happy gas is happy fuel pump and happy KF pump.

Compressed air and gasoline hybrid .....

Two things in my "defense:"
1) the owner's manual tells you about the filter in the KF pump but not about the filter in the fuel pump.
2) Al Gore hadn't invented the internet back then so that this info could be shared.

GOOD POST !!
with a very red face I must admit that for the 35-year life of the original pump I never cleaned that particular filter: I never knew it was there.

My college girlfriend was a redhead. Her family lived north of San Francisco. We made that trip from San Diego a few times in the tii. And a few thousand trips in the San Diego area.

the only blues we got here in SoCal is the sky ...... along with temps in the 70's.
So tomorrow I'll be out for a drive: Simi Valley to Chino for lunch (think Bimmers @ Basco) then on to home.
