Recently retired from Mill Valley Fire Dept……My tii and mountain bike knows the Sleeping Lady very well.
Knew a doctor in MV that had the nicest looking fjord tii I've ever seen.

Also make sure that ALL the bolts that hold the "rolling up n down" mechanism are still there. One missing bolt will cause the whole mechanism to shift, thus making it hard to roll up and down.

Here in The EverGrun State, we are required to run two plates. The one in back looks like it belongs back there, but the front plate looks like crAp hanging out on the bumper. IMO
The most recent Washington plate design lacks symmetry. The previous style had three letters and three numbers, with a hyphen in between and they had the common sense to put WASHINGTON in the middle of the top. I do not like the off-center design... so I fixed it.
Registration stickers are only used on the back plate now, so I gave the front plate a little trim job on the old paper cutter. I made an 1/8" aluminum backing plate for it as well.
Technically, I am sure I could get a ticket, but I'll bet I won't. Time will tell. I saved the piece I cut off and will keep it on board for the officer to see. I will offer to put it back, if need be.
I think she/he will have to agree that it looks a lot better now.
I plan on trimming the aluminum corners to match the plate and may add a couple of screws in the upper corners. Probably not though.
I'm sorry - looks hokey to me…like someone cut their license plate by an inch or so…I do like the Euro plates, but we're not in Europe.

Cover it when it's sunny and hot, keep it uncovered in the rain. Having said that, you don't need to spend a fortune to keep the sun off your car.

Upon seeing this picture, she said..."Now I know why you like this car, that looks like a pus**y!" Upon further contemplation, I must admit.......
What you must admit is that you're glad you married her.
That's something MY wife would say - which is why I'm still crazy about her after thirty something years.
-
Bravo - Thanks for an excellent article.
-
My deepest condolences.

Well, I'm intrigued…..Took me until the 5 minute mark to realize he was saying "coupe" instead of "toupee"…..Sometimes I'm a bit slow.
Did notice that the right headlight was out on the 02 however..
-
Really, really cool.

Beautiful!
Do people take off their shoes when they ride in your car?
I would.
A good question….After I installed my (Esty) carpet kit it was too nice to put dirty shoes on, and would put a towel down. Got tired of that quickly, so I had Esty make me matching mats to put yer feets on. Problem solved.

Really good movie BTW..

Am curious what insurance company it was with….And did you have any documentation as to the value of Pinky..
I switched to Hagerty a few years ago, have all kinds of articles to (hopefully) substantiate what my tii is worth.

Thank you both Paul and Conserv - And yes I did fight it for at least an hour just trying to reach the clock, knowing that if I got it out, no way was it gonna go back in.
-
What I'd like to know is how to get to the clock….A year and a half ago when my seats were out (and the console), I was on my back trying to reach up to it, couldn't, tried to get to it to the left of the glove compartment, couldn't….What's the secret?
I have a working clock that I'd like to swap out.

Turn Your Hymnals to 2002-David E. Davis, Jr Blows His Mind on the Latest from BMW is the original article's title.
An absolute classic, mandatory reading for all FAQ geeks, at least once a year.

^^ I like it.

Not going to lie, they are all pretty sweet in there own way.
Agreed. Panteras are total eye candy.

Hmm….Same thing would happen to me on a few occasions when I had to leave my 73 tii out of the garage in the winter due to a project that required her space.
The starter would turn rather slowly, so I would always charge the battery prior to trying to start her, but the same thing would happen……Would turn off the key and the starter motor would keep cranking.
Long story short - replaced the starter with a 320i starter. Problem solved. Spins the motor twice as fast as the original 02 starter, and draws way less amperage. I could go into detail as to other differences between the two, but look into that.

There was no 02 in that pic.

Hey, for 4K ish she looks nice. Would be a better daily than a similar priced Toyota.
I think it's a decent value.
-
Wow…..First one I've seen…..And I thought I'd seen everything!!
-
My 73 tii dash is also cracked. I have never seen a new dash for our vintage (pre 74) 2002..
Read Adawil2002's post again….juz zayin..

Not more than this - http://www.2002parts.com/bmw/e21-recaro-seats.html
Nice to see that Aardvark has not really raised their prices in the last 12 or so years since I bought my seats from Dave.
Very happy with them, they (along with Esty's carpet kit) really get loads of positive comments on my tii's interior.
