Fantastic vid with superb camera placement...Tnx for sharing..

If you cannot find anything wrong with the hardware, bushings, driveshaft, driveshaft-to-differential bolts, then I would inspect the rear diff spider gears. Drain the fluid (inspect it) then remove the aluminum cover.
I was having similar noises as you, especially when making right turns, and after chasing my tail with all the "easy" things Found that it was the spider gears in the diff.

As sacrilegious that it is, I like it......Maybe it's because it's the only one of its kind that I've seen.....

In my 73 tii, in 5th gear, my speedo is 70 mph is 3K RPM. 4K RPM is 84 MPH..(70 in 4th is 4K RPM)
Did the 5 speed OD conversion 9 years ago, zero regrets.

Sometimes these cars we drive have a way of telling you something is wrong, the broken gas pedal was enough for you to drive home slowly & carefully , ignore this little message & a disaster could have occurred , glad you are both OK.

Ok, sorry this feels like a silly question but I searched *everywhere* and could not find an answer.
The knob that you grab on my window winders seems loose, and I cannot figure out if it can be tightened. From behind there is just the rivet, and the knob does not seem to be made to be opened easily from the front without damaging the plastic center piece.
Is this a case of "just replace the whole d$&* thing" please!? TIA
I had what sounds like the same problem: when I rolled up and down the passenger window, the crank arm felt loose and unsecure.
I recently replaced my door panels, which exposes the innards of the door and the entire rolling up mechanism.
The crank assembly is supported by 3 small bolts. On mine, one was gone, and the other two where loose. These bolts are short
as to not interfere with the window as it goes up and down. I replaced the missing one and tightened the other two and it now
cranks perfectly.
Hope this helps.

I recommend it, as I agree with John - oil changes and alternator work is lots easier.
I also removed the tray and it really opens up the engine compartment. I was concerned about
losing trunk space but found that it wasn't really an issue.
Your car is around 40 years old. How old are you ?
