a spare and a working jack can save you hours (or your car if left on the side of the road)..

I searched craigslist and found the lady I used in Ceres, Ca. It was inexpensive ($120). I had already installed one and had the seams blowout the next day and didn't want to do it twice. Her name was Dee and her number was (209) 241-0123. It was a few years ago and I have no idea if she is still around. She was very good.
That's incredible....I do hope this is not a case where you get what you pay for!
CutteRug, do report back if you find out anything...

It shuts down as if the key was turned off.
This tells me that it's an electrical problem.
The next time this happens (and you've made it to the side of the road safely) open the hood and
push a few electrical connections tight and see if your car starts. If not, push in a few more et cetera.
This happened to me 15 or more years ago several times (same symptoms as you experienced) and I did this, car fired right up, hasn't happened since.
Thing was - I was in a sketch part of the world, pushed in (tight) every electric connection under the hood in under 90 seconds, she fired up and I was outta there. In hindsight I wished I'd have been more patient with trying to find out exactly what was causing the problem. But the shot in the dark worked.

All due respect.....Looks like any decent looking tii we get the pleasure of seeing on the road these days..

Thanks all for the input. Car and engine have been well maintained.

Any advise on my query?

I have not had any problems with my pump, and my tii has (I'm sure) well over 100K miles on her.
I'm assuming that it would be a good idea for a pump rebuild soon? I've always wondered about this.

I like it. It's nothing that I would own, but it's a "one off", the only one of its kind. Obviously a lot of work went into it.
It's certainly more entertaining to look at than a Japanese counterpart.

Always great to re read it every now and then, still makes me LOL.

More than several 02s listed in SF Bay Area CL..

Nice.

Yeah...The dude's high (as in he smoked a bit much...)

I've had good luck with the red Optima batteries.
I did switch to a sealed lead acid for awhile and it didn't last any longer than the Optica which is easier to
remove and intall in my rear mount.

I would query Bimmerforums about this one.

I have first-hand experience that it does indeed fit.
That's awesome! I just learned something.
Thanks I think as now I have to look into a new project....

50 - 75 lb/ft is quite a bit of torque. I'd go with half inch.
I have a 3/8 torque wrench I use for lesser torque settings such as below 20 NM etc.

To the best of my knowledge they are all interchangeable. A one piece dash will definitely fit in a '73, but I can't answer definitively about a '70.
I have heard the opposite - that a one piece dash will NOT fit in a 73.
I've been wrong once before , but if that were the case I would have had one in my 73 years ago.

Agree with Toby 100 percent.
The OE jack can slip and make your life miserable.
Keep it in the trunk to make your car more desirable, but if you need to
change a flat use a scissors jack that you hopefully also have in the trunk.

Wish you would have posted a pic of the entire car....Interior etc sure looks nice.
My first 02 was a 75 and she was a beauty.
-
Sure.
With a 5 speed.
My tii cruises very nicely at 70 turning just under 3K RPM. 4K she purrs at 87 MPH.
I've had her up to 105 once, she was still climbing but I shut her down to "normal speed"....Just had to do it once.

Add me to the satisfied customer list. He's 25 or so miles from where I live and it's like going to the candy store..
