  1. BMW 1600GT in 1967-68 was equipped with 14" steel wheels similar like 2000 Neue Klasse.

As can be expected over 5 decades wheels are replaced and become almost impossible to find.

With support from BMW Classic CCA and Glasclub in Germany we are trying to locate "needle in a haystack" and hope one day we find a set of GT wheels for sale. In case you have a lead, please contact me.

In the meantime, my GT has too wide E30 BBS wheels (6.1/2J x 14 - ET30) that rub inside fenders when I turn. Will post some pictures with alternative 14" BMW wheels that been fitted on other GT's and like your feedback which route to take to replace BBS wheels.

Below pictures of original 14" GT wheel, original wheels that came with GT and were lost in Austin area, current BBS wheels that are too wide and alternative 14" E30 steel wheels:

  2. After reviewing the pictures on BAT, can only give thumbs up on the details of the restoration.

I think the seller did a fantastic job with that Tii. Hope it sells well and finds a new 02 owner who joins the FAQ.

  3. Today instead of prepping our 2002's for MidAm, several members of the Houston 02 caravan volunteered at the BMWCCA Teen Survival event at HPD in Houston.

We had a great turn out and 40 more safer teenage drivers on the roads.

Next week we hope to be with the MidAm 02'ers in Arkansas.

Volunteers Ken, Patrick, JP, Steven, Dennis and Dan

  4. Apparently this GT convertible stays with BMW as part of an apprentice project. The teenagers are working for BMW Group Classic and they restored this GT as their "class room" project. Did see the video on Linkedin and was impressive to see 12 teenagers delivering such a beautiful one-of-a-kind BMW

  5. For those who are interested into buying from Laurens, I can share with you that he is very knowledgeable about 02's. He has been in business for 30+ years and has sold 100's 02's around the world and was pleasure meeting him in Holland two years ago.

I personally would buy from Laurens and have his company organize the shipping to Texas.

  6. eBay is your friend, compare these Mikuni PHH40 length and pitch with your other three idle mixture screws.

Alfa1750 is an Italian provider who sells refurbish kits, I purchase parts from him for my PHH40's.

Good luck with these PHH 40's, they are a joy to drive on our 02's after you tune them properly

  7. You can try Bemer Motor on Richmond. They can do pre-inspection and can tow broken vehicles. Ask me how I know.

Ask for Ismael Martinez and explain what you want to do.

As for repairs on 02’s in Houston, there are other alternatives. Bemer fixed a Getrag tranny for a neigbor of mine on a 74 02.

Others might have different experience but they can and do know 02’s.

    Good luck

  8. Well, thank you Santa Rob,

Had great fun reading Memoirs, now it's time to order the rest of the collection. Perhaps Santa will bring an A/C for the Houston summer season.

Can't wait for the 2020 version of the Getrag transmission bible in Audio book version with some anecdotes from Rob how he became MidAmerica'02Fests Iron Butt winner.

    JP
