    Thanks, I'll do that after I burn this tank of fuel. ARGH I realized the problem after I fill it. I bought extra fuel filters so I'm ok. I really luv this car, so easy to work on.

    When it came off the truck from TX, my new-to-me 1600 (2.2 motor) was not making nearly the amount of power I was expecting. I suspected a fuel delivery problem. Tonight my son and I cleaned the strainer on the weber and replaced the fuel filter. Problem mostly solved, the car has loads more power! Great! The job was so fast, that we had more time testing driving than working. Hahah even better. Based on the amount of sediment in the strainer, I may have to clean the fuel tank, and for sure the weber needs to be serviced, but for now, I'm happy with the result. Any tips on cleaning the fuel tank? James

    Andrew - no worries. Only it was unloaded in the snow. Will NOT be driven in it! The driver didn't want to come up my hill so he unloaded it a couple blocks away and then called me to walk down and get it. It was a sad look, the 1600 and an oval window beetle stuck on the carrier with a bunch of smashed up Japanese SUV's. About restoration, we will see. My plan right now is improving while I drive it. Chamonix72 i'm in the Pocono's about an hour outside Manhattan.

    ...and now it's mine! My grandpa lookin stroker project arrive today. I bought Andrew's 1600 MM stroker. Cleaned him (the 1600) up and put him inside next to his mod'd twin turbo big brother. Now to put together a list! Ei ei ei where do I start. Carlisle it think! First day and I got so many wave and looks and smiles.     Here's a link to the pix I took last weekend. Sorry about the quality, but I'm not a good fotog and the car was difficult to get at parked in that snowbank. At least it was sunny.

    I checked the backspace (4 3/16") and I can clear the strut but not the fender. Tell me I'm wrong and I'll go get em.

    Toby, thanks for letting me know about your car. It's probably not the right one for me because I'm trying to stay away from rust. So for sure I have to pay-up to get a clean car, but it's worth it to me. GLWS James

    Ok, thanks for the opinions. I really don't prefer the giant bumpers and square lights. Parking wont be a problem. We don't live on the Upper East side, no no no I'm a simple guy and I live way out in the boonies. Remember, I'm looking for a project. So Charlie, you've obviously been having fun with your project.
