  1. I was personally looking for an automatic to drive daily, but it's just personal taste. Most people prefer manuals and/or buy automatics to swap in a 5 speed. Mine also has 99.9% no rust, almost perfect interior, all original and I gladly paid more than your potential car is selling for and don't regret it for a minute. How is the paint? How does it run? Good luck!
  2. I have this one but it's not for sale. Ruehman broke ground in 1973, they aren't around anymore, or at least they changed their name. I'd love to find a Zipper BMW.
  3. This post made me interested to research my VIN, this is what they replied with, but the dates seem a little strange. Don't the manufacture and delivery dates seem awful close together? It only took 5 days to roll off the assembly line, transport onto a boat in Germany, and roll off of a carrier in NYC? "The BMW 2002 US Automatic VIN 4282522 was manufactured on May 17th, 1974 and delivered on May 22nd, 1974 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Sahara, paint code 006."
  4. Nice! not to hijack my own thread, but are you still in the south bay? Also, what seats are those? recaros? got a pic of your interior?
  5. I'll keep an eye out for the Saddleback and Weber plates. I used to typically grab any license plate frame that was from a european car dealer, are there any that are highly coveted from a BMW dealershp? That Brecht above is the only BMW one I have. I know for Porsche it's Vasek Polak in Hermosa and they go for $100's. I used to live less than a block from the dealership and probably could have just asked them for a few.
  6. Hi there, i came across this old license plate frame a while back (I used to hoard them). Anybody have a technique or DIY for bringing them back to life? I could give it a stab, but if someone's already done it, I'd like to hear how you did it. Thanks, Jay
  7. sounds good Colin, looking forward to it JP
  8. This didn't even occur to me that it could happen, thanks for posting/warning. out of curiosity, did you hear it shift between gears when going from P to R or vice versa? Or you probably weren't paying that close attention since you didn't expect it to happen...
  9. I'd like a tachometer to replace my clock in my instrument / gauge cluster, I have a 74 automatic and the clock doesn't work anyway, so might as well put something in a little more functional, and so I can have one more thing to obsess about. I'm not looking for anything aftermarket, but am not super concerned with whether or not the tach comes from a early or later year, as long as it is a direct swap and in good shape. Thanks
  10. I was trying to avoid some drama, but looks like I created some instead. If you'd like to use my ebay feedback as a reference (also under webthread), I believe it's at 100% positive, I'm not trying to be a welcher and was just attempting to follow along with the common practices of the forum. If MKINNA doesn't want them, then let's see what we can do. If we're not able to meet and do business this time, then hopefully in the near future.
  11. Hey guys, I'm just going to go in order here, and I will be more attentive and specific next time in my posts so my apologies to all. akfjord and I have been emailing since the weekend, if he's not interested I'll continue down the list. I should have stated earlier that I'd like to get $200 for the wheels and center caps, etc. Also, they are not hubcentric so you may want to use centering rings, and may need to use different lug nuts with them.
  12. Sorry for the slow response. i believe the offset is 38et, i used this to calculate it http://www.ehow.com/how_5021837_calculate-wheel-offset.html The only thing i got confused with is what width to use, because outside lip to outside lip is 7", but for the math I used the inside lips which measurement is 6" which i think is what most people use. inside width: 6" centerline: 3" backspace: 4.5" difference: 1.5" offset/et: ~38mm As for who's in line for the wheels, how does it work here on the forums? If someone responds first is that like calling "first dibs"? i had reached out previously to quickrsilver who is local to me about his bottlecaps and I would be interested in a trade, but I'm new here and want to be honorable, so please let me know what the protocol is here so I don't step out of line. Or am I being overly concerned? Thanks, Jay
  13. Thanks, I already have that wheel so will pass, but appreciate your posting
  14. I actually just got one, but i have a steering wheel addiction so I still might be interested in your set up because I haven't decided if I'm going to use my wooden momo indy yet. would you like to email a pic of the steering wheel, etc to webthread @ aol dot com ? Thanks, Jay
  15. Thanks for the confirmation on the splines. Any thoughts on the horn wiring and turn signal cancel, as relevant to the e21 momo hub?
  16. sorry, I tried the search, and tried to sift through all the answers, but couldn't get exactly what i was looking for. If an e21 steering wheel will fit on an e10 hub, then the same rationale could be applied to the momo hubs and they would be interchangeable, correct? so now the modification Q: what needs to be modified on the hub? if they were exact fits, momo would have only made one hub instead of making a separate model for the e21, so what's different? i've seen comments about the turn signal cancel as well as the horn contacts, but some of that was mixed in with responses to e30 q's as well. Thanks guys.
  17. will a momo hub for an e21 work?
  18. where are you located in LA? i may be pulling mine apart today to grease the window track and clean the door handle and panel and will try to take some pics.
  19. I have these old school Appliance wheels for sale, I was going to use them on another car but decided not to so I have had them for some time. These were popular in the late 70's and early 80's on track cars, etc and also on Muscle Cars and Vans. They almost look like a cross between American Racing wheels and BBS. They are in really good shape as you can see from the photos. Let me know if you have any q's, I'm in So Cal and would rather not ship, but would if the price is right. I have lug bolts as well as center caps. These are 13x6. [/code]
  20. Thanks, blunt's was actually the first place I looked based on recommendation from another person here on the forums. Blunts were lower priced ($16-18), are they the "raised" ones? http://www.blunttech.com/ShopByVehicle.epc?q=&yearid=1974@@1974&makeid=31@@BMW&modelid=13613@@2002&catid=241766@@Body+Mechanical+%26+Trim&subcatid=241868@@Emblem&applicationid=W0133-1631450@@Emblem&mode=PA
  21. I've searched here and on ebay, googled, etc and it seems like pricing for the hood and trunk badges is all over the place, new or "like new" ranging from $15 to $45. They all claim to be oem and come with the little plastic inserts. What's the difference? all 3 paint colors on mine are faded pretty bad. Any suggestions or ones to stay away from? Thanks, Jay
