  1. I needed a 10mm Allen socket for draining and refilling the differential as well as a 19mm (I think maybe a 17) ratcheting box end in the close quarters for the tranny fill plug
  2. I'm interested in the seats if wiggy passes on them --John
  3. Thank you for the advice and glad to hear it is not critical. --John
  4. When changing the oil filter today, the surround on the alternator plug decided to disintegrate (shown in Jim's picture in the link) http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,0/page,viewtopic/topic_view,threads/p,620634/t,324603/ The plug is intact and the retaining wire is present. Is the surround important and can these be replaced? I couldn't find a reference in the parts catalog or in old posts. TIA, --John
  5. Bob, Thanks for the information. Interested as well depending on where the price settles. Thanks, --John
  6. Bob, Quick and naive question. Are these for the US or Italian flasher housing? (Don't know if there is a difference in the housing or just the lens). Thanks, --John
  7. Gents, Thank you very much for the recommendations. This is the type of info I was looking for. Auggie and Russ I will drop you notes to get a bit more background. Thanks again. --John
  8. A bit of a late introduction, but my first BMW project followed me home a few months ago. It is an early ’72 Tii and has everything I was looking for (Behr A/C, original engine, early Tii, no sunroof) and is relatively unmolested except for door speakers and holes from a past AMCO bar. Unfortunately it also has the non-Cal rust and will need front floor pans and work on most if not all of the usual suspect areas. It needed to be saved and I am an idealistic sucker. While I would love the excuse to buy a welder and plasma cutter, between work and new child, I don’t have the time to learn bodywork. Does anyone have recommendations for a body restoration shop in Atlanta or the Southeast that can handle complex bodywork/panel replacement? Crabtree in Atlanta was mentioned in long ago posts as well as Korman (restoration service side) in NC. I would like to hear experiences both good and bad. Feel free to reply offline if preferred. TIA, --John
  9. E-mail sent on jack and hub remover
  10. Todd - a number of people in the Brit car world have installed Miata seats that have speakers in the headrests. Not sure of the look but an option.
