  1. On your 1st car (blue) that is a nice stance, what sort of suspension setup was that.
  2. Hi ShakeyC Nice job there I have a 2002 that needs the same common repairs that you are doing, did you lap weld the floor pans in. How are your chassis rails are they rusted out?
  3. Has anyone done a A-Post repair section, I have started to drill out the welds, I was hoping to leave the the wing support bracket and cut round it. It seems the rust is behind the bracket, so I am going to have to remove it. Any tips on doing this job, I am mostly worried about refiting the wing support bracket as this it going to be spot on for fender/wing refitting
  4. Nice job, did you butt weld the joints or lap weld
  5. I have got the same problem, Think I am just going weld the floor pan in to where it ends then just try and make something to fit. I think you are heading in to bulkhead area. not sure
  6. I am about to start doing some floor pan repairs, and rocker repairs, probably replace the outer sill, and patch repair the inner rocker, Not all at the same time, try and do the repair in stages, Is there fear of body movement, I don't want to go down the road of bracing the door openings. Any tips to supporting the car correctly would be helpfully,
  7. Well I have managed to strip out most of the interior to reveal the usual rusted out floorpan and chassis rail. I have a floorpan patch panel now, so how much would you cut out, would you replace the whole panel or just cut out part what you need , My rust just goes beyond the chassis rail. I have decided to lap weld the patch panel in then just seam sealer it top/bottom when done. I want to start a Utube blog before I start- I dont think that we have enough 2002 resto vids.
  8. I want to start doing welding repairs to the floor pan sections and rockers How much of the interior do I need to remove. Can I get away with just remove the one side of the car( seat, carpet, centre console) space is tight in my small garage to store stuff What is the best way to remove the black tar that holds the insulation done? What is the point of those big round blanking plates on the floor pans?
  9. How do I remove the door, I have removed the door card and can see the 3 bolts and bottom, do I remove these, How about the diggerdoo wossit thingy(tech talk!!) in the middle that stops the door from flying open. how do I release this, is it as simple as tapping the pin out. Thanks
  10. I have been looking at various patch panel welding such as floor pans, inner wing and boot area on you tube. I see that professionally body shops are just lap welding panels in (after cutting out the rust), doesn't this have an exposed edge on one side ? I suppose it does the job. I thought that butt welding was the best way to weld a section in. Just think for when I start cutting rust sections out. What are peoples view on this
  11. Can some one help me, It must be me, I can not work how the price list is liked to their parts list. here is a example so you can see. Looking at the a post repair section 41/4/3 (is this correct) Now looking for this in the price sesction it is 41/6/- What am i doing wrong, its fine if you know what the part is called??
  12. Is it possible to replace just the sealed lamp unit from within the housing, or does the whole unit need to be replaced
  13. I need to replace the inner panel that the wing bolts onto, how is this fitted to the car, is it spot welded . would you use a 6mm or 8mm drill to remove the spot welds (picture courtesy of blog section, Thanks)
  14. I bought a set of Alpina spoked copies a while ago, said in the description that these fit 02's. Glancing through my copy of restoring 02, came accross a page on wheels, came accross my wheels and it says"will not fit under standard arches". size of wheels I have are 6Jx13 ET13 tyres 175/70/13. Can anyone confirm wether they fit on a standard 02? Thanks
  15. This may seem like a silly ques, but are there any step by setp videos out there on doing restoration work on the '02' like replacing bodywork ? had a quick look on Youtube but didnt see anything Thanks
  16. Here in the Uk Unleaded is approaching £6.00 a gallon =US $9.69
  17. Is this true, can any one confirm this "cut the centre part of your early grill out and swap/weld it into the late grill" This is excellent if this works!!!!
  18. I am really impressed with what you have done here, Its funny cos I just bought a small kit off good ol ebay, to do exactly the same with the brake calipers. was the chrome on the pistons OK, cos it says that the kit will strip chrome When I bought my 02, the calipers where given to me a bucket in pieces one off the calipers still has 2 of the pistons stuck in (diagonal). Can someone tell me how the pistons are linked, do the pistons work on opposites of each or diagonal ?
