  2. Actually thats a very good idea, if anyone is able to trace round the centre grill and take some measurement that would be very very helpful, if anyone can post them on this thread here would be good.. 3. Please don't burn me for such a stupid question. Has anyone managed to 3d scan or print a Centre Grille 51131801577 for early 73 . The reason I ask is I am currently trying to repair the front nose panel, I took my some 10years ago and haven't the slightest idea what safe location I put it in. I need to refit it before welding up the new panel. I saw the eye watering price for replacements. ......so has anyone manged to get a scan for a 3d print file ???
  4. Yes Thanks, I nearly got talked into poly bushes, have now decided against it, I want the comfort ride, especially as it will be ( purist close your eyes from this point) leaf powered .
  5. OK Thanks guys that's helpful as the 2002 top plate is quite expensive. So does the e21 shock insert does not fit the 2002 then ? Any of the front suspension bushing interchangeable with the E21. Looks like it going be a expensive project to refurb the front end then.
  6. As the title says, Does anyone know if the later Front E21 Shock parts fit the 2002. They seem plentiful and a lot lower priced than the E10's Thanks
  7. I know it has been discussed in detail here but to ship the kits to the UK is very expensive. Is there a PDF diagram to a get the custom plate made here ? There also mention about having the hub milled , is that the trailing arm part ? how much has to be milled ? Thanks
  8. I have emailed W&N and Jaymic (UK) It is showing on W&N catalog. both companies said it is not available, and do not know when it will be, how can they stop making such a basic part. I think I discarded the part I removed, I could take some dimensions and probably just make one with some appropriate angle iron would be the easiest. When I started my resto some years ago all the parts where easily available, my other big problem is the front panel needs replacing, which also not available unless you want to spend 2K on one.
  9. While replacing the A Pillar panel, I cut out the vertical fender support bracket as it was rusted out. Think of my horror when I went get replacements and that Part is NLA how can you get the fenders and other parts and a key part is not supported any more. What do you guys do. I suppose it could be made up
  10. does it fit under the other plate....sorry if im stupid here!!!
  11. Hi All.. Sorry if this a stupid question, have bought a Floor repair sheet rear axle support, but where does the other plate(circled red) fit to ??
  12. The main axle with the brake hub, need to get to the mounting point just inside by the rear arch this point here( thanks tommy for the pic!)
  13. Is it possible to lower just one side of the trailing arm, have some repairs to to, working in a small garage so car is tight up against the wall on the other side. limited space
  14. I did take the car as a resto project with no real time limit, more a hobby, I did wonder at the time, why the guy I bought it from teachers body repairs at college was selling( he must of realised how much work was involed. and the price of the front panel on a pre 73.....................Dohh You are right about rusty UK cars, great british weather ehh. I am still learning, have done quite bit of work to the car up front, replaced A pillar support panel, have done various repairs to the inner/ outer rockers (sills), Have replaced front floor pan,and other patch panel repairs, I have butt welded all the repairs where I could, with Ok results. I did see how bad this area was thats why I started at the other end, have to bite the bullet now. I am prepared to take on the challange, just wanted some insite about which panels to get and what it should look like
  15. I am slowly getting through my resto, getting to the point I have been putting off. As you can see in the pic not much left of the bottom corner left, dont even know what it is suppose to look like, I have outer rocker panel and the repair panel before the arch, my main concern is what it is suppose to look like around that subframe mounting. Are there repair panel for that area. is there a inner panel for where the jacking point is. Any pics or info will be most welcome. Thanks

  18. Nice work, very impressed with your panel forming. I just bought that rear section from walloth quite expensive for what it is. Can I ask, when you did your sill/rocker repairs did you do any bracing inside the car. I am going to do some section repairs to the rockers, not going to take the whole rocker off, just wondered if it needs bracing
  19. I was reading through a car magazine which reviewed a Oscillating Combo Multi Tool, which would be good for car restoration. I was thinking that it would be good for spliting spot welds between panels, with the metal cutting blade. (as I dont have access to air tools in my garage). What are peoples views Yes, No, waste of money!! Here is the link if the pic does not show http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wolf-Oscillating-Variable-Complete-Accessories/dp/B004I5VNEA/ref=sr_1_sc_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1337346226&sr=8-3-spell

  21. Hi, Where is the paint code in the engine bay? Doing some local repairs, what are people using for paint, are you using cellulose or somthing eqivalent. Is it best to use the paint code or get a colour match done to th 40year old paint? Thanks
  22. I am cutting out the rot patches from the rocker, I have started at the A post end, (about 10ins long) all cut out well, I bought a rocker panel from W&N its a one piece that does the length of the car and part of rear quarter panel. I cut a template piece from the new rocker, 1st thing I have noticed it much thiner gauge than the original. Also where the bottom edge is, it stops short, it doesnt bend over like the original. Please help, is this just a cover panel, have I bought the wrong piece...
  23. Thats the problem, these 2 barrel manifolds seem to be rare here in the UK
  24. this is a completely random qustion, Do they make/or is there such a item, a adaptor plate to fit on the single barrel manifold to accept the twin choke weber?
  25. here in the UK, these where very popular upgrade for the old mini scene or A series engine
