update on this car: I went to go see it today. First time I've been to crazy ray's in mt airy. The car is located towards the rear where they keep all of the foreign stuff.
Most of the good stuff has been taken: the front grilles, distributor, fuel pump, rear tail lights (I took these), carburetor, 320is wheels. But there's still some good stuff left: black, uncut door panels, door handles, turn signals, a very new-looking fuel tank, a nice spare tire and wheel, both bumpers, and the head.
Did you notice the condition of hood an trunk? I wanted to make it up there, but have been out of town since the post. I'm back and want to make the drive if the panels are in good shape. Its hard to tell in the pics, but they look to have the typical rust under the trim. Thanks!

Too bad I just saw your post. I was down on Mount Vernon Ave (drivin the 02) today and would have stopped by to check out the new car. Hope you're enjoying it!

I can introduce you to a friend that manages Yates Sunoco at Braddock and Mount Vernon Ave. They don't do inspections, but he uses a guy in Old Town that won't notice.

Well, I have to buy a really expensive piece of equipment for my business. This vehicle is gonna run me around $200,000, so I want to make sure I buy the best unit available. Especially considering that I might have to let the 02 go in order to have extra cash on hand. The cab choices are an International Harvester DuraStar 4300LP or a Hino 258LP. Does anyone have experience with either vehicle? The Hino is a Toyota product, which has me interested for reliability reasons. Anyway, I don't know much about this type of truck and I value the opinions and mechanical knowledge of everyone here, so any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Dennis,
Who is painting the shell?

Thats a hell of a price...just need to find money for the house with a garage/yard to keep all these cars. Tiaga and Mintgrun are probably my favorite color choices.

Thats a nice one and very tempting...

Welcome to the faq. I hope to see your car driving around Alexandria soon!

lol. My severe ADD must be in full effect! I actually haven't paid much attention lately. I've probably driven my car a total of 5 miles since October. I'm gonna take it into the shop next week to have the timing adjusted, then I'll be in good shape again.

Didn't know about it
Next time, though.

I'm one of them as well. Should be a good time!

I am negotiating with myself, I guess...price lowered to $8K. I also have a 2006 330xi with premium and cold weather packages, 30K, just spent $1500 on the 30K service as well. Vehicle is silver/gray. Asking $22,500 which is good condition trade in value.

I have a '73 finished in Chamonix with Marine Blue interior. Financially, I would be in better shape if I sold my favorite car. I can't believe I'm typing this...
a few details:
*Restored E21 Recaros with perforated seating surfaces. Seats are mint!
*Period correct Cibie Super Oscars
*New Carpet- not installed
*New Blue/white Coco Mats
*Refinished Momo mesh style 14" wheels. Finished in BMW Carbon Black
*New tires
*New Urethane sway bar bushings installed
*New Bilstein sports installed in the rear of car
*New Bilsteins sports for front- not installed
*New Bavarian autosport springs- not installed
*New front + rear urethane bushings- not installed
*New Wheel bearings- not installed
*New Kidney grille
*New Center link and control arms- not installed
*Almost mint door panels with new chrome strips from aardvark- not installed
*Nardi wood wheel
*Nardi shift knob
*New Battery
*Rebuilt top end of engine
*Chrome Valve cover and various other chrome engine pieces
*New Hella lights
*Alpine and JL Audio stereo installed
*Weber 38/38
*New plugs, wires, IE electronic ignition/distributor
Lots of other work completed, but not listed. Many other new and spare parts not listed. Car was rust free when I bought in in CA, but some surface rust has appeared around paint flaws. The rust is so minimal, that I probably didnt need to mention it. I think the car is worth around $10K, but offering the car here for $8K. Glad to discuss any offers. Please email me for further info at xlittlejohnx @ yahoo
Again, can't believe I'm doing this. Sad day. :-(

Cool article, thanks for posting. How about that Uttoro that went 80 kph on wheelbarrow wheels? The Fesztival which had a body made from chicken feathers and pig blood... lol

WHY ARE THEY SELLING IT ?
DO THEY HAVE NOTHING TO PROVE NOW ?
I wondered the same thing. Called a buddy of mine and asked him to find out how much they want. Gotta be a small fortune. It would be fun to spend a day there with a bunch of toys of all sorts.

7" LEDs would give you a unique, modern look! I wonder how well they work...

My wife got me this one for an early X-mas gift. I've used it on both our cars and found it very easy to maneuver, considering where we have to point it. With the detachable cord, and built in tach, it was very easy to use... and the price is right.

+1 I recently bought the Equus 5568--pretty much the same tool as the 3568, but supports two-stroke motors as well. You know, on the off chance my motor becomes a two-stroke.
Should have saved the $33 and bought the 3568.
LOL!

If I read correctly, the lens on a standard H4 Hella light would not work with these projectors b/c its not a clear lens? I don't like the look of the halo, but I would like better lighting...

Have not thought about slot cars since I was a kid, but this might go on my list for Santa this year!

Looks like I missed another great event! I see Phil made it out to the event. He has such a nice car! I'm almost positive the Golf Tii is my neighbors car- he lives in the Seminary Valley area of Alexandria City. He does construction and handyman services in Northern VA. www.yourdiversifiedconstruction.com if anyone needs work done and wants to support a local 02er.

Almost car-free weekend in Williamsburg VA

Jim, funny you should post this. We are going to Williamsburg in April thanks to a friend that can't use his timeshare. Also, my neighbor thought he could trump my 02 by picking up a '65 289 automatic from Texas. Its a gorgeous hard top with little to no rust. I'll get pics next time he has it out. His car is nice, but trump me, I think not! BTW, great pics!
