lol. I figured someone would keep that wheel and horn button, it looked nice! I actully like the wheel thats on it now, fits the car well. I look forward to seeing your project completed.

Post a video! The car appears to coming along really well. When that car first left Alexandria, it had such a beautiful fired enamel horn button...

I tried to buy it tonight, but someone beat me to it...ugh. Seller has a deposit.

That makes more sense. GLWS. I have owned at least one of ever M5 starting with the E28 and ending with the E39. Too big for me after the E39. While I have a soft spot for E28's, the E39 was a huge step up from the E34 in performance and handling. The Dinan stuff makes it the car BMW should have sold to begin with.
The E39 is amazing and I'm not a fan of the newer M5's either. Granted, they are quick, but I think BMW got it right with the E39. My only issue is reliability. Its needed over $20K in service the last couple years and I don't believe any vehicle should require that before 100K miles.
I did get to take it on a parade lap at the Baltimore Grand Prix the other week- that was fun!

I had a 2001 Dinan S2 M5 as my daily driver for a few years. Great cars. Serious maintenance required at regular levels which is why no one wants one out of warranty. I assume you know that you are asking way, way above market for this one.
This is a Dinan M5 as well, but please note that the post if from 2009. At that time $21,000 was market value for this car. I still have it and I'm now asking $12,000 which is market value again.

I have corral tickets for Friday and Saturday, so I'll be there. I'm actually looking for a Sunday corral pass if anyone has a lead on one...

Anyone driving up from VA early Friday morn? It would be fun to drive up with a few other cars. Hope to see everyone there!

Thats a nice one!

I wanted to bid on this one and have it shipped over because the price was so cheap, but it wasn't open to US bids...

I was told to post weekly by a senior member of 2002faq
the reason is that people log on and read but don't search or
go back too many days
I often post my email adress for those who are not members of 2002faq
ps I enjoy your contributions to this blog
York
They were probably right, post often and check frequently! I hope you find the right car!

check the post where we were discussing this yesterday. Don't know what made me type Virginia...maybe because I live in VA or the extensive Heinekens at happy hour. I corrected the post and there is a link to the event as well. Sorry, lol.

looking for the perfect car
Drinkbypool@aol.com
You sure are persistent! You will find one, they do exist. Are you going to The Vintage in NC? Its a good place to start looking or get jealous...If I see one advertised ANYWHERE, I'll let you know. Thats my ideal car as well.

Alcantara headliner is nice, but the rest of it doesn't do it for me. I wanted to do a while Alcantara healinder on my Chamonix roundie, but never got to it. Had those Momo wheels on my Corrado in the 90s. Never could find replacement center caps, though. They don't look right on an 02.
-
Its a pretty car, but that price is outta control!!!! I might be interested in a set of the decals, though. Keep me in the loop.
-
hahahahahahaha! So true, but I've actually had it for a long time. I'm 31 and got my first 02 at 16. Blew the engine 8 months later. It was a Granatrot '76. I think its probably rotting away in MD somewhere...wish I could find it!
-
lol. Didn't put 2 and 2 together for quite a while. Your secret is safe with me.

I love Phil's car! I sold him an S6 wagon when I worked at Lexus of Alexandria. I haven't seen his 02 in person, yet. You know I always somehow miss the good events.

Dennis, I got some warehouse space from a friend. I really lucked out!
Andy, I've had tears in my eyes since Saturday at 5 am. I need to drive it when its dialed in, please! Never quite got to do that. :-(
Jim, I love those wheels! Well, I haven't quite sealed the deal on this car, but I'm very close. I need to pick it up for $500-$1000. Its one of the cars we were going to go see with Marshall a few months back. I finally got the guy to agree to sell. He has a rough roundie in Malaga also...He said it has good glass along with some other good parts. I'll let you know when I'm going to check them out. You might want to roll with me.

I got it and its bad. Sold my gorgeous baby to invest in equipment for work. Found a deal I couldn't refuse this eve. Polaris big bumper with sunroof and a/c on the way. Just gott find storage space while I bring it to life. DC locals, get ready- its gonna be a good one.

When I was 16 (I'm 31 now) I was swiftly crossing the 14th st bridge into dc, after curfew and headed the wrong direction from home, when my engine exploded and the car died on the spot. Got in loads of trouble for that one. Worst thing was, at that age, I couldn't afford to replace the engine. It was a gorgeous Granatrot '76 and I still miss it. Got a whole $300 for it when I sold it. Stupid teenager.

So, a friend of mine acquired a 2002 through a mechanics lien when his customer couldn't pay for the work. I'm not interested in the car, because its a resto mod of sorts and its just not my style. My friend does incredible body work and this car does not require any paint or body work- its all done. The color is not your usual Inka or Colorado and that is the main reason I don't own it already. The previous owner had him restore the body and then paint it a very bright, very metallic orange color by House of Kolors. Its pretty sharp, I guess. He says is really sparkles in the light! Its not a tii and get this- Edelbrock carb. The previous owner was certainly not your average BMW guy . The car is probably a strong runner based on what he has told me. I do know its been in the shop for two years, so the usual sorting will be needed. He wants $10K, but I think he's been breathing in too much paint.
I'll try to get a closer look and some pics if anyone is interested. Just wanted to post this in case some of the locals are interested. Maybe some of you NOVA guys are bored with your red cars and want a change... ;-)
