    What tranny do you have now? I'm running a Getrag 260 with 3.91 and my 1st gear is short too, but it cruises fine at freeway speeds in 5th gear. It takes some finesse to get going without chirping the tires, though. I'm considering running wider tires. It sounds like you might be happier with the 3.64:1 that came with most 2002's and some 320i's.

    Very true. I've been itching for an early or mid-year 911 but after doing research into the cost of parts and rehab, I'm going to hold off and just enjoy the little 02!

    Kevin at NHSpeedometer is really helpful. I found out that to use the VDO gauges, I'd need to fab a toner wheel onto the CV and use a speed sensor to run the gauge. In the meantime, Ed at Groma found a better option, so I'll let you all know how it looks and works when I get my car!

    I wish I could say the red one with that sick stroker motor and e30 rear subframe and diff was mine. Mine's the blue one. It's been there for months, but not as long as the red one. I'm anxious to get it back because in the meantime, I have amassed everything to redo the entire interior and mouldings, etc.

    Haha, my car is over at Groma right now as well. I asked the question here becuase I must be getting the same answer from Ed that you are. I don't know, but it doesn't seem like it should be that tough to use an electric VDO tach or the tach out of an e30, but I'm no electrical engineer.     I just received notice in the mail that the March issue of Sport Compact Car will be the last one published. I really enjoy reading that magazine each month and will surely miss it. Even though they cater to japanese imports, they have some really good tech articles and motorsports coverage. They informed me that the remainder of my subscription will be served by Modified Magazine... greeeat.

    I rented a Dodge Ram from Enterprise for a couple months after my truck was stolen. It had a hitch and hookups and I used it to tow my boat but I don't think they like the idea of using their rentals for towing. That's probably what I'd do if I found a car in Seattle that I wanted to tow down here, especially since gas prices have backed off. Oh, it was Enterprise North Hollywood which is near the Burbank airport if you're looking to fly in here.

    I've got a 3.91 lsd diff out of a 320i with no problems. There was a guy selling a few of them from somewhere in the Inland Empire and I picked it up for $200. Bonus, he drove it out to me! As Pierre said, it is pretty short and likes to spin the tires in first. Isn't too short and buzzy for freeway speeds, though, with the e30 5-speed. I've heard of these breaking with lots of burnouts and hard driving. Talk to Ed at Groma about fabbing up an e30 rear end and subframe if you plan on going that route. I haven't chipped the ecu yet, but don't think the gains are crazy if you do. Rob

    I found some 15" BBS RA wheels for a good price, however, they are on a VW GTI and although the bolt pattern is correct for my 2002, I'm not sure if they will work. Can someone please let me know if they will, or what to check for? Thanks! Rob

    So I'm doing a bit of a restoration to the beat interior of my '02. I've picked up some new seats, door panels, knobs, handles, etc. and will be installing them all as soon as I route out all the gremlins that appeared when finishing my motor swap. My question is about bolts. When removing the old parts, all of the bolts for the handles, seats, etc were mismatched and most seemed like they were wrong. Is there somewhere I can source correct bolts or someone on the board who knows about this? Any advice is appreciated! Rob rob at hksupplyco dot com

    Damn! I am just about to place on order for a pair of Recaro Sporster CS seats and then I see this thread. Those seats look great! Real period correct. Who is Stephan and where can I get pricing and shipping quotes on these? Have any of you driven hard in these seats? How do they feel? How supportive are they? What about long drive comfort?

    Have any of you used one of these dash covers or one like it? Is it just the cover material that you then have to apply to the rigid structure of your dash? My dash is terribly cracked but I don't want to fork out $500 for a good used one and don't mind spending some time recovering mine if it will in fact turn out looking good. Any advice is appreciated. Also, there seem to be more one piece dashes available used in good condition. Is it a straightforward swap out with the three-piece, or is there fab work involved?     The PO of my car painted it close to Laguna Blue. I call it roundel blue. I get many compliments but I personally don't like it. I'll attach a photo of it along with a silver color I wish I could afford!
