  1. Getting ready to add a stereo system and eventually fog lights, I upgraded my alternator. I took my original 35 amp unit to Alternators Unlimited in Berkeley and asked if he could build it up to a 65 amp unit. He said he could but ended giving a me a little more juice by giving me an re-wound alternator out an E9. I guess those alternators were designed not to have bushings. Fits like a glove and gives me all the amps I need and then some! I have a stock Alternator if anyone wants it for free , oh and don't make fun of my blue hoses, I was desperate!
  2. I just watched the episode. Pretty cool to see the pull that Tii out of the barn. What do they do with the cars they find?
  3. Ahhh man that’s a great sounding motor! I can see why you would listen to that most of the time.
  4. Chargin, thanks for the great pics. How do those speaker pods from Forest sound? I was thinking about getting those as well when I order my center console.
  5. Thanks. I just sent him a PM. I also noticed that he hasn't been on here since the beginning of the year.
  6. I was on the bolt on bliss website to order some kick panels from Jason, but I noticed there wasn't an option to put anything in my cart and almost everything is "sold out". Is Jason still taking orders for his products?
  7. Reviving an old thread...I know, I know. I didn't want to get the "use the search function" response. It looks like the link above is dead and I searched through other threads to try to find my answer. I just picked up this used steering box to replace my super leaky one that also has a hitch in it when I turn the wheel. I picked up this box for $40 bucks and it seems to turn smoothly from one side to the other without any disruption. I put new fluid in and let it sit for almost a week with no leaks. I ordered a new coupler from Ireland and I want to try to get away without having to replace the seals on the box. Here is my question: Do I need to lock the steering box to one side or another upon removal and installation so that I don't end up with a cocked steering wheel? Also, as you can see in the photo, there are no threads left on the adjustment screw, does that mean the box is cooked, or should I just back it out a few threads and see how it performs? Thanks in advance!
  8. Sorry for the late update. I did order a new Slave and Master cylinder as well as a stainless flex line from Blunt. When Blunt realized that they didn't have the flex line in stock and it would have to ship weeks later, they offered a superior brand at the same cost. Bluntech has some amazing customer service (I manage a customer service team, it's not easy). I got a PM from @Mike Self with his very detailed write up and it made the whole process super easy. Mike, you sir are a Rockstar on this forum! I don't know how many of us you have helped along the way but I can't thank you enough. Here is a picture of my new parts installed. The whole clutch system works like a champ!
  9. I remember back in my VW days as a teenager a shop in Northern California called V-Mar racing was the place to go. One night I walked up to the shop to pick up parts and the owner was working late fabricating something amazing. He was listening to industrial music and I thought, wow that’s what inspires creativity. Tonight I was rebuilding my carburetor and put on Portishead on Apple Music essentials. Although it’s a different genre, I got that same vibe I got when I walked up to that shop 30 years ago. I was in the zone. Great music to wrench on a car for sure. A few cold ones always help too.
  10. You guys are killing me! Well my wallet at least
  11. My wife isnt gonna let me hang out with you guys with all the money I’m spending! ?
  12. You guys are the BEST! Thank you for the quick, knowledgeable responses. Since that master looks to be the original and/or don’t know the age of it, I will bite the bullet and replace both plus the flex hose. Thanks for the feedback on the steering box too, looks like I’ll need to at least grab some new seals and monitor from there. Mike, pm coming your way!
  13. Hey guys, I have noticed that the fluid in my brake fluid reservoir has been going down and it seems to be ending up on my garage floor. I ruled out a brake line issue when I replaced the drum cylinders in the rear and bled the system looking for leaks. I noticed that I was starting to get a soft clutch pedal until I refilled the reservoir. I crawled under the car today and grabbed this photo. It looks like it's time to replace my slave cylinder. My question is if this is one of those "while you're in there" situations and just go ahead and replace the master as well? Looking at the photo, it looks like it's fine and I did the pencil test in the pedal box with no moisture on it at all. If I do replace the slave and not the master, are there any other must replace parts that I should order so I don't get half way done and realize I should have replaced it too? As a side note, I snapped a photo of my wet steering box and wanted to know if it looks like it needs a rebuild? Thanks in advance guys!
  14. Guys, so sorry for the image loading issue. I had to log into my PC (instead of my Mac) to properly get the JPG in there. It does seem to be the one in Mark's picture, but I reloaded mine to be sure.
  15. Does anyone know if this car belongs to an FAQer? I'm really interested in the color code used to paint this car. I looks like a Derby color but when compared to other Derby cars it looks to have more of taupe tint to it than the grey/blue tint that you see in most Derby cars. If anyone has any info on the paint specs, I would be really interested to know. This was one of my favorite 02's that I saw at the Brisbane show this year.
  16. Sent you a pm on your silver dollars
  17. I don’t know about anyone else, but I can’t see what you are selling.
  18. Hey guys, I am trying to put together a headcount of who will be at the pre-meet so that Weatherford can have a heads up. If you are planning on meeting up could you please either reply to this thread or send me a PM. Thanks!
  19. No worries, thank you for the location suggestions. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.
  20. I've worked with both Steve and Gerrad and they have both been an absolute pleasure to work with. When there was a slight mix up on an order, they stepped up and delivered above and beyond customer service. They have earned my business for sure! They are very knowledgeable, have a really good selection of parts, and shipments from them come well packaged and quickly.
