  1. Trust me Scott, there is nothing worse than the evil stares when you arrive in Canne in your Gulfstream with two supermodels.
  2. You can get a set of suspension techniques springs for $167 that IMO are perfect (height and street damping). You can go lower but not without rolling the wheel wells or other mods. click here for picture of my car with st springs http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,download/id,51871 here is where i bought them http://www.autopartsdealer.com/suspension_techniques_suspension_components-p403603-p.html?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=cse&utm_campaign=froogle&utm_content=APD403603
  3. My wife likes to ride in the '02. I learned early, if you want the wife to ride, car must be: comfortable reliable clean attractive heated and air conditioned easy to get in/out and not blow her hair around Fortunately I have other cars to mess up.
  4. Don't you just hate people with talent? Thanks Scott! Hope to see you at Vintage in 2011.
  5. I show my wife my on-board race videos and she humors me and watches. Some people have the speed gene and some don't. Very few women seem to have it.
  6. Looks like more fun than a roomful of puppies and swimsuit models. Well almost. Thanks for sharing.
  7. I love those. There is a guy here that has one. Looks like a nice project.
  8. Yeah, I was hoping I would make you CA guys jealous. You've got so much great stuff out there all year but its hard to beat a crisp fall day along the Appalachian Trail.
  9. I posted some pictures of the car after it got hit a while back. Well these are a lot less frightening. I took these out at the new Atlanta Motorsports Park, a country club racetrack now under construction in north Atlanta. It is running great but of course there are always things to do on it. Next up, a long-overdue bumper tuck. After a little dirt-tracking it was too nice to go home so I took the wife to Amicalola State Park to see the waterfall and the beautiful fall leaves.
  10. I want to buy the '74 light switch if not already sold.
  11. I think he cheated on her and she is trying to get guys to come by her house so she can return the favor.
  12. John, Why don't you join us next year? We also do an event in the Spring with an unknown destination. We need some more '02s to offset all those Triumphs. The road was littered with broken down British crap but it was the Cadillac with the big rims that caught on fire!
  13. But dude, thats how they do it in a Nascar pitstop!
  14. I just did this procedure. Works like a champ. Lose the canister. Like you said, it is probably toast. Remove the plastic box in the trunk and remove the lines to and from it. Cut off the plastic hose coming from the filler neck Take a piece of the plastic hose to the auto store and get 2' of fuel hose that fits tightly on it. Drill a hole the size of the fuel hose in the bottom of the trunk from below the car near the right rear bumper mount Route the fuel line hose from the plastic hose to the hole. It is important that the hose fit snugly in the hole. Done! this will eliminate the interior and trunk gas smell.s Note. there is a small hole on the left side of the center bumper mount for this purpose (Euro cars) but it is virtually impossible to route a hose there on the big bumper cars so just drill a new one.
  15. Thank you. I found that both informative and very amusing.
  16. Well the fire pit was at the start and we save the drinking for the end and there were a good number of hot chicks. Unfortunately my navigator was not among them!
  17. The rally was 400 miles, all pavement, Athens GA to St Marys GA. Then it took 400 miles to get back to Atlanta. It is a Cannonball. I do it every year and it is a blast. I finished 15th out of 50 due to a few bad decisions. Three rules. Cars must be 1976 or older. No interstate highway use. If you get a ticket you are disqualified. Other than that, lowest elapsed time to St. Marys wins. http://www.angelfire.com/super2/ellisracing/dtt.html
  18. About 800 miles, many at high speed. Car ran great. Here are some pictures. http://gallery.me.com/mikecap#100112&bgcolor=black&view=grid Only one 2002 but lots of other great cars.
  19. Dude you are either really old or watching too many reruns. The sad part is I know what you are talking about so what does that say?
  20. My racing buddy and his dad took a 1976 Porsche 911 Turbo to the Texas Mile and ran 177mph! Here is an onboard video with speedometer and G-meter.
  21. My '76 with a 3.90 LSD and 5 speed is off by about 10%. 90 mph indicated is really about 81. Verified with Traqmate GPS data recorder.
  22. You are correct sir, it is a locating link. It carries no torsional force.
