  1. I was tuning my weber 32/36 today, and while revving the engine I noticed a very fine mist spraying out of that tube that leads from just under the valve cover to the underside of the air cleaner assembly. ( I have an adapter for the weber carb to make it look like a stock solex) Anyone know what that mist was? Smelled like gas! Is is just a fine oil spray? Makes my air cleaner smell like gas!
  2. I have a 76 '02 that idels roughly when warm. A "GUEST" replied to my post over the wekenf that the 32/35 has settings for when it's cold, and when it's warm. He said since it runs great when cold, i should check the warm idle setting. Anyone know of any online reference materials for this issue?? thanks!!!
  3. Have a 76 '02 with the Weber 32/36 conversion. Car runs great cold but when it warms up it really idles like crap. Idles so low the whole car shakes, and periodically stalls. Is this something that can be treated with a simple idle adjustment, or would I be better off pulling the carb off and rebuilding? post or e me at jboerner@frontiernet.net THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!
  4. Got sick of dealing with this Minnesota Winter without heat. Also my temp gauge was stuck in the blue - not registering any engine temp. Bought the $17.95 thermostat from bavauto.com and after a quick 30 minute operation VOILA...and then there was heat!!!! glad I started there instead of the heater valve or time consuming heater refurbish!
  5. Getting no heat, and temp guage stuck in the blue, so I am putting in a new thermostst tadya. Easy enough, however... Right above the thermostat, and right below the flexible air duct leading to the air cleaner, there is a hose that is rubber leading from the carb, and aluminum leading from under the head (it looks like that's where it goes). The rubber and aluminum hoses meet in the middle at an aluminum fitting. Question is...can I move those in order to get easier access to the thermostat? are they pressurized? Is it for the choke? I added a pic, i hope it works...
  6. SOMETHING STINKS..ANYONE ELSE SMELL IT?

  13. did it really only take you 5 mins?
  14. i am FINALLY going to send my 76 in for body and paint, and I had a couple questions about the windshield (actually front AND back). 1. Does any glass company carry glass for an 02, or will I need to special order it? 2. How about the seal - would the glass company have the seal or will I need to provide it? BTW..parting out a 76 - lots of stuff still avail...e me with requests at jboerner@frontiernet.net
  15. weird question...what is your trunk seal like? I had a bad seal in mine and continually smelled of gas and exhaust. Someone suggested I change the rubber seal, I did so , and I'll be damned. It worked.

  19. My 76 only gives very mild heat, and i need to figure this out lest I freeeze me tools off. Where does a guy start? I read Chris blumenthal's heater box refurbish article, and I'm willing to do it, but what else can be done to try to fix the problem before I dig in? I figure the most logical place to start is the thermostat? How bout the heater valve? Oh..most importantly, can the heater box come out without dash removal?
  20. the cars I'm parting out are 76's. Is the dash the same? the one I have has a small crack. call roger kwan at beyond 02 at 650-344-0566, or emal at t2002bmw@aol.com . Tell him Jim in MN sent you.
