Taking off the 38/38 carb way back when to put DCOE's on....after that the car was on and off the road for many years, never driven quite like when I first got it. Now that I have it on 318i manifold and Megasquirt.....I think I have it back to that point where I can start it up and drive it and not worry too much....nor have little niggles that I need to go after and have it end up down for years at a time!
I bought my Cortina project car as a distraction from doing stuff to the 02 car.....as idle hands seemed to have me finding something else to do on the 02, which resulted in me not driving it!

BMW and Audi are on this mission to create a car for every "type" of car they can think up..... Hey, how about we make a cross sport off road racing 4 seater that is huge.... oh sorry, just making fun of the X6 which makes me cringe every time I see it.
I feel like since the end of the E46 M3, M division has stood for Marketing, not motorsport!

I'm with Chris on the baby stepping it.....I tried DIY ITB's with megasquirt and EDIS right out of the box, straight from Dual Carbs....too much at once for me, ran in to issues and ended up pulling and putting carbs back on. NOW i'm running 318i manifold and megasquirt and couldn't be happier!
I have another project that I am going to attempt ITB's on...hopefully that goes well

This is a set of 40DCOE's made in spain, they are about 7 years old, pulled from my car to run megasquirt.
You get:
2 40DCOE's
TWM manifolds
Throttle linkage (with throttle cable as I had it on the car)
Electric fuel pump
Fuel pressure regulator
Pressure gague
Ramflow filter (only 1)
All you need to run this on your car is mount them up, connect water bypass (not included), connect linkage (use what I have or fab your own), route the fuel lines (I used the mechanical pump but you could use this electric one which is new), tune the carbs and you are ready to go!
Price is $825 for all items shipped to you, or $775 picked up locally with Cash
email if interested

Mchris,
What was your previous configuration when comparing power to your now config? Just curious, seeing if it would be worth the extra effort and $ to stroke (for me)

Might be slower hardening because of our beautiful cool weather, stick a halogen lamp aid at it, or a space heater (don't leave the house with this going on though) to try and encourage the kicking of the resin. I am assuming you are using polyester or vinylester? If not, you may be in trouble if you didn't mix the epoxy, could have mixed by weight instead of volume, or visa versa?
I've worked with fiberglass and carbon and a lot of good skill is learned by making mistakes with the stuff.......as frustrating as it is.
Good luck,

I suppose it is a fine line, make an example out of people otherwise anyone (even BIG companies) can get away with it, otherwise pick on people and do like they are to you and others will hear about it and not follow.
Though, in my opinion you are providing free advertising for the company (putting their logo out there or whatever it is) while funding your passion for the marque and keeping your car on the road, further boosting the image of the company........so, they might not get the $50 profit you make, but they do get more interest in their cars.
Oh the joys of big money, kinda makes you hate BMW a bit eh, really, you are going to be a big D-bag (like a lot of the drivers of your new cars) and do that???
But, like the other guy said, Big pockets, just comply (sad to say)

Portland is great, my wife did grad school there while I was in Seattle, always fun to visit...want to live there, but won't because all family is up here!
Visit: Hawthorne neighborhood, Sellwood neighborhood (muddy rudder is a good pub around there) and a bunch of other neighborhoods for some good walking around shops and locals (google search portland neighborhoods.....gives you a good idea). Lots of "food carts" provide GREAT cheap food in many varieties
Micro-brews are great down there, skip the chain McMenimans and go to Bridgeport, Deschutes public house, Hop Works, Lucky lab.....among the other 30 or so down there. Visit Beesaw's on NW 23rd for a GREAT Happy Hour menu and also one of the best Egg's Bennedicts i've ever had.
Drive around the "West Hills" for some nice houses and good views (though expensive houses)
Saturday Market downtown is cool and fun, not too far from Voodoo (long lines though for doughnuts)
Some random facts, more micro-breweries per capita..and more strip clubs per capita (yes, but don't deter yourself over this)
Anyway, just my 02 cents...... great place, quirky fun, and unique!

Saw this, looks like a real turbo....could be a clone, looks like it needs lots of work, but at the asking price of $3500....and however many $K's you need to transport it from Alaska....could be a good starting point for a Turbo restoration.
Surprised nobody has posted....must be trying to buy before someone like me blabs about it to everyone!

Sweet, I have most of that already, just need a good vise is all. I also might buy/make a lead shot bag...think I saw something in a hotrod mag or something where they used that to pound out the rough shape, then maybe refine on your shaping tools...
Good work though, helps to see that you can just pick up and do it!

Looks good! Gosh.....I have a set of Recaro's in the garage I would love to do this to, but then I know it would lead to so many other things needing/wanting to be done and essentially turn in to the cars restoration......so, I am holding off, but I do love the tan!!!

Good work, what are you using to bang out/shape your pieces? I need to do some of this with my Cortina project

I've got some Carbon fiber airboxes in work, about 90% complete. They don't have runners on them, though I have molds to make the runners as well (though have not made and bonded the 2 halves yet....so don't know how well it would work)
With enough motivation ($) I can finish one of these up......it would require no Booster.......or you would have to do some modifications (cut and put indent in the airbox if you kept the booster).
I went 318i manifold with Megasquirt and don't have the test bay or any of that to motivate me to finish these (and a million other projects)

How is the steel along the rear window trim edge? I have a rusty lip and want a full length replacement along with part of the C-pillar (for welding)
Looking for no rust at all.

Interested.....though not sure when I could pick up. If you do paypal....I could always have my Brother in law who lives in West Seattle pick it up for me and drop it off next time I see him....
Or I could give you a deposit in Paypal, then pay the remainder when I can pick it up (so you don't get charged the fee for the full sale price)

No melting, though they are nice and bright......now that I have repainted the housings, wooo wooo

ah yes, so simple, thanks it worked!

Welp, I can tell I am driving the car again as I can ask questions like, "why are my brake lights stuck on"
Wife was driving behind me the other night and reported they are on all the time. Where to check...? Pulled out the wiring diagram and get stuck on junctions which I have no idea where they are.
Any help on easy spots to look?
Thanks,
Bryan

Looking for a decent front bumper, doesn't have to be great chrome, just straight would be nice.

Yep, haven't connected the fuel level sender wires up..or attempted,
Do these work and hook right up, anybody know what color wire goes to what pin?
Just haven't gotten around to it since getting the car running on MS.....i've been driving around with a big TO DO list of stuff like this......just having too much fun driving and need to get back to really finishing it up =)
Good to know about the depth though, i've been filling up after about 100 miles of driving as i'm not 100% on the mileage I'm getting + the "short" sender had me be a little conservative. Keep in mind about 11 of the 12 years of owning and driving this car.....i've not had a working sender unit, so i've ran out of gas a few times and ya....

Whenever and wherever this show is........whoever is putting it together could use some tips on Marketing!!!
I've read 2 different dates and 2 different places (not on here, but by the organizers)
Hopefully will be there, though not showing as I only get a short time and then am heading off to hike

I took this apart anyway to add the ground wire, in doing so I saw the lamp was 12V, problem solved! Now the housings are tidied up a bit and mounted on the car....now I just have to wire them up.
Thanks!

Agree with you about the M needs an M'ing....Kinda like Audi with S and RS, intentionally make the S not as good so then you can have an RS
