  1. I think that if I were in Curt's situation, it would be neat to see that all these various screen names actually represented living, caring, and sometimes aging human beings. I am sure he would recognize our cars before he could identify us.

What makes this board great is the people, not just the cars. Time to step out from behind our screen names, find a photo of yourself and let him see how human we really are.

I will start off with what I hope will be a great tribute to Curt's caring and humanity.

Continued prayers for Curt and Lisa

  2. Never get tired of the smiles, thumbs up, and attention. Had a guy stop me and tell me I had the "coolest" car in Santa Barbara. (My Inka Touring) In a town that has more cool cars per Sq. Miles than most, that was a very nice compliment.

  3. Browsing through my pictures, I am amazed how many shows, and drives Curt attended, including a few Quien Sabe runs.

You are right, Michael...checking out Shamrock 09 pics...everywhere you look...there is Curt.

We have a unique opportunity to let Curt know he made a difference in our lives. Don't miss it. Thank you Curt for your passion for living and sharing. Hang in there as long as you can, we love you and pray for you.

If Curt is up to travel, someone bring him to SoCal vintage in October. I think he would love it.

  4. Having owned an 02 since new in 1976, and tinkered, tweaked, replaced, repaired, refilled, crawled under, crawled into, and driven them for years. I no longer covet thy neighbors 02.

Since getting the Touring....I am fulfilled. The Euro design is clean and simple (no Federal reflectors, bumpers, smog plumbing etc) Great visibility, utilitarian (Hatchback, fold-down rear seats). In a sea of grey and beige cars, Inka orange really stands out and contrasts well with black and silver.

Driven daily, short trips, long road trips, back road trips. Brings smiles and thumbs-up whenever you venture out. That is what these great little cars are made for. Driving, driving, driving. Bone stock, 1802, single barrel solex, 4 speed, 4:11 diff. My car is reliable, not tempermental and a sheer pleasure to drive. My to-do list for the touring is very short...#1 Drive..

  5. If it still has the original metal heatshield over the exhaust manifold. They get brittle and start to split at the mounting bolts and rattle at certain RPMs. If so, replace with a combo gasket/heatshield from the 320i, or just drip a little JB weld on the crack. (it will hold for a while, but need to be redone occasionally) Hope that is it, because it is the rattle that is the cheapest and easiest to fix. I am sure others will share other possible causes of the grind/rattle.

    good luck

  6. if im not mistaking, is that reservation road?

It is actually Foxen Canyon Road in Santa Barbara County. They do look similar. We used lots of back roads on our way to Monterey. The best was Nacimiento-Fergusson Road from 101 to Hwy 1. Murray was staying in Salinas so he avoided that twisty 1 1/2 lane shortcut.

Steve, Congrats on the 1st place award! Your car was beautiful. And Marta says thanks for letting her sit for a while in your car to warm up.

That's me and Marta behind the E21, which is a beautiful specimen. It's a 320is, all original, and it's been in the family since new. Less than 50k original miles.

Thanks, and that is me and Chris's wife behind my car.

When I saw that E21, I thought "no-way" would I have a chance to win. But I have to assume that the judging takes into consideration that I drove to the event, it is my daily driver, and the E21 is still owned by the dealer and brought on a trailer.

That being said, my car is pretty clean, and it is nice to be appreciated. The guys that brought and maintained the E21 were really nice guys and gave me a tee shirt and some other dealer bling.
