Thanks for the link. I saw one of the original MM coupes at the BMW Museum last fall on a display with the MM route behind it (that hologram on the wall shifts to different race tracks it was run on). They still run this car today in historic races incl the MM, and it's still dirty from the races. Shockingly it is NOT cleaned up for the museum. I think they just roll it back in "wet" after racing.

I was down in Monaco last weekend for the first RM Classic Car Auction to be held there - this was the star car:

It was a beauty - but failed to sell when bidding peaked at, wait for it, 4.3 million euros - that's over 5.5 million dollars. They brokered the sale the next day for an undisclosed sum.

At the other end of the scale a very clean Neue Klasse fetched 9,000 euros and a CSL with history sold for 115,000, which was also strong money.
