Timing question

Go the new carb on, car runs ok, I can tell by the feel that timing is off. When I turn the car off it stumbles and won't die. i have to kill it by releasing the clutch, then a poop thru the carb. So with that said do you guys know if I need to slowly work the dist clockwise or counter? i don't have a light. i am trying to get it running decent enough to get to Brad fenn's in the mornign so he can work a little magic on it

sounds like your running a tad advanced. I've never used a light on mine. Try backing off a smidge then increase idle to compensate

back off means clockwise? or counter as you look down on the dist

not sure, when you "retard" it the idle will drop, advance idle will raise.

I am a retard tonight! I will keep f ing with it. Right now the idle screw is not even touching the arm. So its all timing right now

If you're running a 32/36 Weber, the after-running can be fixed with an idle cut-off solenoid. It screws into the primary idle jet boss and is powered from the key on/off position.
