Unfortunately, I don't have a way right now to scan in the picture from the Blue Book, but, if it helps any, the shift control piston looks like it has a cam on the end of it and that is what guage 7056 is gapping from the control unit housing.

so the gaping is sort of limiting the piston maximum travel once fully pushed in?

yup that helps perfect, thanks. what bugs me is the cam on the piston is shown in the full throtle position, but not in kick-down mode...they ask to put the pedal down to full speed position, isnt it too under kick-down ?
