This car is a great candidate for restoration, but I just don't have the time or money to restore this car. It is structurally sound, but has cosmetic rust along trim line, rocker panels, etc. The two worst places are a nickle size hole at the base of the rear windshield and a place at the left turn signal under the hood. The engine runs well and still has good power. It has not been rebuilt to the best of my knowledge. I still drive the car every couple of weeks to keep it healthy and the battery charged. It has 156,000 miles. It has been a southern car all its life. I have a lot of the previous owners records. It has re-covered and re-stuffed front seats and new front door weatherstripping. It's got a nice Momo wheel and unusual Talbot fender mounted mirrirs. The front door panels could use some help and of course the dash has cracks. Back seat and panels are really good. Shock towers are great. Spare tire wheel well has been fixed. Sunroof works wonderfully, but needs weather stripping. Car needs headliner, I have material. I'm in Lexington, NC. Asking $5900.00. It has a clear NC title. Thanks, Tom Michael

Tom,

Great car, just on the wrong coast for me.

It is an extremely interesting example of a '72tii.

That's because it's actually a '73tii -- one of the first few USA-spec models built in late September or early October of 1972 when '73tii production began with VIN approximately #2761837.

It is similarly equipped to my '73tii VIN #2762756 (Inka, sunroof) and they both could very well have been built on the same day.

What I notice on your car (along with the tell-tale '73-'74 aluminum intake runners) is a "no-notch" cowl -- a holdover from the '72 model year.

A very interesting feature that indicates when and how the changes were implemented at the factory.

Can I contact you through E-mail or phone. I'm interested, but under $3500 due to all the work needed. Is that something you might entertain? I'm in Virginia, willing to come drive the car back tomorrow. Let me know.

Tom,

Nice car!

Best wishes with the sale.

Bring it to Vintage if it's not sold by then.

Interesting observations, but my car 2761876, and the other cars around the same vin, still has plastic intakes. This car 'should' as well.

You are correct, 2761876.

Next time I won't try to do math in my head.

My apologies for the confusion.
