Bent wheel, repairable?

PabloM

Recommended Posts

I just got a set of wheels and they did not arrive as advertised. All wheels had bends in the lip but 2 of them are a little more severe. It looks like the worst one has even sustained damage in the inside of the lip. I added pictures of the 2 worst wheels. Does anyone have expertise in this area? Are they repairable and at what cost?

Thanks

Yep Stockton wheel is good but might be a little pricy.

Might try these guys. They have helped me out before.

Small shop but great work.

Try http://www.wheelsamerica.com/ or there mobile division http://fixrim.com/ I know and race with the owner. Great guy and all of my racing wheels that have needed repaires turned out great. He (the owner) will be near Sac in a couple of weeks for the 25 Hours of Thuderhill http://www.nasa25hour.com/.

Hope this helps

+1 for Wheelsamerica. I had an Alpina wheel with a pretty nasty, 3-inch long dent repaired and painted at their flat rate ($125 IIRC). Excellent work, one week turnaround and it balanced out pretty well with no runout on the balancing machine. You might want to call to find out how things work for clearcoated (spun?) wheels.

The damage to the Alpina was at 2 o'clock in this shot:

Is that how they arrived ? Without bubble-wrapping ? If so, they might have been damaged in transit. Do you have recourse ?

A few years ago, I was thinking about having a set repaired by Wheel Collision Center (http://www.wheelcollision.com/) but it would end up costing so much that I bought a new set instead. If your wheels are NLA, it is a different story of course.
