Houndstooth Seats

I recently purchased three '02 project cars and in the parts was a set of front buckets and rear bench seat, in black & white houndstooth.

What years were these used? Someone told me these were only used in the targas. That sounds for fetched. Please confirm if so.

According to Mike Macartney's Restoration Guide, hounds tooth inserts were a targa-only option. The seats as well were unique to that car to compensate for the lower roof line.
