Domestic or imported loop carpet ?

There is such a big price difference and I'm wondering why? It seems to just get the less expensive but I'm hoping the imported loop would last much longer and look better.

What is the difference between import and domestic carpet?

A. Domestic loop or cut pile automotive carpet is generally made of either acrylic or nylon fibers. The fibers are spaced wider than Import carpet and usually are left a little longer. Import automotive carpet is usually made of natural or blends of natural fibers (wool) with a heavy backing. Fiber spacing is very tight, nap is usually short. Import carpet generally resist matting better than American carpet. Color choices are large in both import or domestic carpet, there are however very few color matches between the two.

I'm going to only look in to import carpet as it sounds so much better.

Import carpet is SUBSTANTIALLY better, indeed. To put it in perspective, we make about the same margin on wool, as we do on nylon, yet it's more than twice the price.
