I don't know why the need for a M3 starter still stands so strong in the community. The starter of e12 and e28 M30 engines also fit and they're much cheaper with nearly similar power and weight than M3 starters.

For some reason I think they put out more power at 1.7kW, but I dont remember...

that's right Nathan, the M30 starter has 1,7kW and the S14 starter has 1,4kW - so the M30 even "cranks stronger"

What is the bosch label on M30/e28 starter, SR 442/4/5/6 X? I know both 440 and 441 fit and I have installed a 443X on my tii.
