Does anyone on this board familiar with an aftermarket oil filter assembly that used toilet paper elements. Anyone actually use that type of filter? Are they still available?

Yes, ask about a toilet paper moisture filter at a local auto paint supplier. The old diesel truck toilet paper oil fosters are now being used to trap moisture from air compressors befor feeding air to a paint gun

I have used one for that purpose for 10+ years.

Foolish is in the eyes of the beholder. First, the poster did not extol the virtues of using a toilet paper filter. Second, unless you are familiar with these filters, your opinion is anything but scientific. I do not profess to fully know the science behind such a device. However, I can remember them being used in small fleet operations (International Harvester and Ford). I do not believe TP was chosen because the OEM filters were too expensive. Rather - the scott tissue products did such a good job of keeping the oil clean that they eventually removed the oil additives. The point being that there is far more filter material in a roll of two ply than whatever Fram or Purolator put in their's. All I can say is that as a kid the oil the outfit changed was always light and clear.

The above being said, I wouldnt use the filters for the simple reason that they give off lint and probably dont flow that well under pressure.

Anyone heard of or use OBerg filter system?
