Ordered the Supersprint midsection (cod:040313) and the muffler (cod:040334) from their website. I still need to order the headers, but after test fitting the muffler (cod:040334) to the hangers, it didn't align with the hanger placement at all. In fact, they're off by a few inches. Has anyone else fitted this muffler without cutting and welding the muffler hangers? I don't have photos yet but I can try to get some tomorrow. If I remember correctly the fuel tank got in the way of moving the muffler more towards the right passenger side to align with the cutout in the rear bumper. I'm thinking to commit to the headers and getting some metal fab done to get this to fit or to return the midsection and muffler and having a full exhaust build. Any advice helps.

I guess it makes sense since these cars are so old and they're all off by a little anyways. I will orders the headers and have a shop make it fit. I have the Ø70 mid-section and muffler, and now need to order the Ø70 headers, but they have the option of oval or round exhaust port. The motor is basically stock, but thinking to go round because I plan on upgrading the motor in the future. Any advice on this?

 

Edit: I do want to add that Supersprint responded to my email and said that the hangers were designed for early models (even though it was advertised as late models exhaust) so I would have to cut them and weld them to the opposite side of the muffler to make it work. They also offered me a discount on the headers by referencing someone over there, but not sure how to order with the new price off their website. Might require that I call them, even though the time zones in SoCal and Italy are way off.

I think you will want round ports, unless you plan on putting something very wild in the car (like full race car with massive cam that works only at 6500K+ RPM. 

 

Just a word on the header.  It is nice to have a complete set, but the TRI-y=Y header (i.e Bag-O-Snakes/Spaghetti Header) is really meant for high revving engines.  I have the Ireland Engineering version of a similar TRI-Y header and it is very nice to look at, but offers little performance under 5K rpm.  

 

From what I understand it requires exhaust volume to (I.E a large exhaust pulse) to suck the remains of exhaust out of the engine.  In practice this happens in every header, but the TRI-Y kicks in very high in the rev range. 

 

The one below may suit your needs better, as it will give you the best seat of the pants increase with current and future modifications.   The bad news is that they are out of stock, but you can perhaps get one that re-sells them.

Forsure. Yeah I've been reading up a bit on exhaust flow. I went ahead and ordered the Supersprint headers with round ports to make it a set and avoid any more complications. I'll report back in a few weeks with updates after it comes in and gets installed.
