I know the history of the RAF, I'll ask my buddy if I can take a photo of the vehicle registration document. He told me he bought the 2002 from her personally (don't know when, I guess in the 70's, he bought 02s everywhere)

The car itself isn't ready to drive, it's a bodyshell but in good condition.

Of course I don't like your political views. Anyway.

Seb, Thank You !  Your friend is in possession of a historical vehicle with a provenance and personal connection to a very influential German revolutionary and counter culture figure. It's great your friend had the foresight to save that car. There are probably many private car collectors who would love to have it. But, it really belongs in a museum in Germany. I'm surprised it's not there already. I'm sure it has something to do with the politics.

But, never mind the politics. Many people in the West, especially here in the US, have good intentions, but are clouded by NATO propaganda. I've spent most of my life in the US, a country with a two party system where "Communism" is a word more disparaged that "Pedophile". . And, I'm all too familiar with the zombification of the masses here.

I also liked the RAF in principle at first, but later I didn't, it was really terrorism. My buddy has had the car in the garage for ages and I don't think he's even aware that it's historically interesting. I had suppressed that too, it's good that we talked about it, you gave me an idea. I will suggest that he write to Spiegel (a newspaper) to see if this is an interesting topic for them.

Cool pic (also the police vw t2 bus in the back lol, no chance to catch a 2002) 🙂

Thanks

In the end, the RAF got desperate, especially after many of its members were killed and captured.  For some people it proved too bloody and too much."Terrorism", however is a relative word.

Yes, I really think your friend should contact Spiegel. Ulrike Meinhof was also a journalist. The topic may not be popular among the political elite and mainstream media now due to the current political climate of mass anti-Rusian hysteria and Russophobia, but this car should be preserved.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
