5 of my Uncles served in the 442nd/100th, known as the "Purple Heart Battalion" and MIS in the Pacific.  All came back alive, held no grudges and quietly went back to work their farms in Colorado.   They've all passed but I'm still very proud of their service. 

Before joining he Army, Pat Tillman once said after reflecting on his fathers and Uncle's military service..... "I really haven't done a damn thing".
