Need help locating parts for turbo engine bay

Recommended Posts

Hello all, getting back to working on my restoration project and putting the engine bay together. Does anybody know where to buy these holders or have any for sale? I can buy generic ones but of course those are not the same. Pics attached.

Edit: Pics attached are from my put together Turbo.

The wire clamp on the lower (right) side of the valve cover is no longer available from BMW (part # 11610643019), but it appeared on every ‘02 for years, so there are still plenty of them kicking around in the used parts market. The first photo shows it as part #05 on parts page 12/7. Below, the second and third photos, show the clamp in place on my ‘73 and ‘76.

I’m not certain when the clamp first arrived, but earlier cars employing the clamp generally protected the spark plug wires with a black conduit within the clamp, still available as part #04 on parts page 12/7 (part # 07119975349, that was “by the meter”, so more than you’ll ever need). There used to be graduated sizes of the conduit, adjusted to the number of wires running through the clamp. Only the largest size remains available. For 1975-76, U.S.-spec cars got blue conduit, as shown on my ‘76, which actually retains its original conduit (my ‘73 had the clamp but was missing the conduit when I bought it).

Regards,

Steve

The breather hose clamp might be more difficult to find (your photo is reproduced below). For one thing, I’m not certain which clamp it is. First off, the breather hose appears on parts catalogue page 11/43, part #01 (part # 11151259450), second and third photos below. But the clamp doesn’t appear on that page.

Second, there’s a similar clamp on parts catalogue page 34/28, part #06 (part # 11651260328). It appears to have an inside diameter of 19 mm. This is shown in the fourth photo below.

Third, there’s another similar clamp on parts catalogue page 13/35, part #03 (part # 13511260331). It appears on the fifth and sixth photos below.

There might be more factory clamps, the above two are what I’ve found thus far.

If I had neither of the two clamps you’ve shown us, I’d search on the applicable part numbers and place want-to-buy ads in this forum.

These are both very simple steel clamps that could be easily re-created, but you might be able to find used original examples. I believe the round clamp for the breather hose should be secured by an acorn-head valve cover nut.

Steve
