Small Interior trim piece on grab strap

Greetings!

need the little black vinyl cover piece. It covers the screws.  I have one in fair condition so if you have two in good condition I’d consider buying them both! Thanks. If it Helps this is a 68 1600-2 - they are not included on my 71 2002

They're available new (which surprised me a bit), but BMW is a little proud of them. ($16.00 each +/- - yikes!) if you can't find some nice used ones.

Dion, your 68 must have a sunroof and the 71 doesn’t (or has missing covers).  Non-sunroof cars come with horizontal roof mounted passenger assist handles.

 

Dip those chrome pieces in some EvapORust.

 

My tip for broken grab straps:  Remove from the car, cut and shorten the broken side strap, then punch two new holes.  Having a slightly shorter grab strap will hardly be noticed, especially if you do both sides.  Hope the concours judges don’t carry around a ruler with the stock length marked on it?.

Yes the 68 does have the sunroof and the 71 does not. 
 

1 step ahead of you - I dunked those Pieces in the evaporust last night.

If your straps are tired you may want to check out the ones out of a newer VW Bug, they are a bit thicker buy are pretty nice fit. Probably made by the same folks, and they are newer.
