Extended front control arms.  These are 4130 Chromoly Tig welded in house with relocated ball joint.  The ball joint is moved out 0.75" and forward 0.375".  This adds about 0.75° camber and 0.35° castor while giving much needed firewall clearance when running 8" wide wheels.

This car is lowered about an 1” and running 13x6 ET28 3mm spacer 205/60r13 Toyo RA1’s and IE fixed camber plates.

I've heard of people using Bavaria control arms to achieve a similar effect on camber. I don't know if they change castor, though.

Yes. But they are a lot wider and have many other draw backs. I believe they are about 1.5” wider which is very noticeable from outside the car. These are a lot more subtle and free of drawbacks. They add just enough camber to make a significant difference without really being noticeable looking at the car. Similar to offset roll center spacers, but the arms don’t add scrub steer and are much safer.

 With IE fixed camber plates and our extended control arms.  Camber numbers came back at -1.9 Rt and -2.2 Lt.  Car has 13x6 et28 wheels with a 9mm spacer and Toyo 205/60r13 tires.  Fenders are rolled.

That’s my car the arms are on. Very happy with them, made a very noticeable difference. Car had bad understeer with stock arms when pushed hard at autocross. Just tried them out for the first time last weekend, very happy. Tracks well through corners and now have slight oversteer, which is way better to deal with! Temps were very cold and my RA1 tires weren’t at their best. That said, besides being the oldest car by about twenty years, I ran in the top third of the 65 car field with a motor that’s pretty stock.

 

Will be going to another autocross in a few weeks, hopefully it will be warmer. 

 

Also, Jeremy at DanJer has been awesome to work with. The workmanship on the arms is exceptional!

 I see that poly bushings are recommended, does rubber not fit or just hasn’t been tested?
