Nardi wheel resto question

I recently bought an older Nardi wheel that's in decent shape. There are some condition issues that I can live with for the moment but I'd love to restore it this winter when it's time to turn to my endless list of indoor projects. It looks like a previous owner attempted to color match the existing stain in a few areas and I'll likely need to sand the wheel down to bare wood and re-stain. My biggest concern is how to repaint the black strip on the wheel surface and am wondering if anyone has had any success on that front.

Hi Mitch,

I've been there and would'nt do it again.
The professionals have thixotropic paint and can get them done in one pass.

It is so convenient to have this done by a pro comapred to the 6-10 layers you've got to spray and sand.

The black stripe is an inlay on a lot of wheels, it'll survive sanding.

Hi Uli,

Thanks for your thoughts. I've read that many of the Nardi wheels used inlay for the stripe but this one appears to have been painted...unless there's an inlay lurking underneath the black paint. Nonetheless, I'll probably look into having a pro take care of that part of the resto, if possible.
