#6 A/C hose crimping

Has anyone successfully used this die on a standard #6 size A/C hose? I sure hope so as I ordered the hose already. Thankyou!  Scott

i was going to measure mine and take it down to the local AC shop to do the crimping etc.

I bought the 71500 A/C Hydraulic Hose Crimper Tool so that I could make them my selves, the and next time. Just a bit confused as I expected a separate die. 3/64 difference between a Reduced barrier 8 and regular 6. Should work but.....?  By the way, I should be finished with the tool within two weeks and I would be happy to lend it to you for yours.

Yes.  I have a similar set.  Buy some extra fittings and practice.  Need to be able to crimp just right.  Not under or over crimp.

I have a crimper, not hydraulic, but the same sort of setup.  After crimping the hose, Could not possibly see how any of the hoses could leak. 

 

That being said I am lost when you are talking about a reduced barrier 8 and a regular 6.  With mine, there is a little slop in the tool, perhaps on purpose to accommodate the difference in size you are talking about.

Hi Dudeland, Long. time! A reduced barrier hose has a smaller outside diameter than its 'regular' counterpart. I thought I'd receive a regular 6 but got confused that it appears this one die is for both. 3/64ths.....not much difference. My fingers are crossed that it will work. How did your system end up performing?  Also hope life is good
