It was always stupid IMHO, but good they did. Being able to see the Alaska Range crystal clear from Delta Junction always told me the story. Only time I thought it may have been beneficial was in the Interior at -40° the stationary ice fog.

 

Couldn't count how many cars went to waste or were near impossible to sell in the winter from not passing emissions.
