Time to come clean - I bought another one

Update:

I pulled the shocks off the bike, and installed new IKON (see the play on Koni?) shocks.  I can't tell any difference in handling, but they look new/nicer, so there's that.

I bought a big red reflector for a BSA that I'm going to mount on the rear fender.

I'm going to re-do the handle bars.  I needed some 60 mm M8 studs.  I was only able to find them at McMaster-Carr.  I was a little worried when you could only order them by the bag, so I ordered one bag.  When the order turned up, it turns out 1 bag is only 1 stud.

Damn you McMaster-Carr.

So, I ordered some more.  I needed 4, so I ordered 10.

Finally - I found a guy locally that might build me a custom tank.  I need to talk to him still, but here's his website:

It's on the list of things to do.

LOL on the bag!

Hey, do you still have an '02?

:D

Do you think the 400's sit higher than stock seats?

Edit:I mean, if you remember :D

Cheers,

That's not nice.

They don't sit higher, that's for sure.   Height wise, I don't notice a difference in mirror settings.  I know you sit deeper in the bucket, but the 400's have way bigger bolsters.

Honestly, they are in my top 5 mods to my 2002 (NOS Campys, electronic ignition, cluster mods, Nardi wheel, 400's).

Edit:  I think you sit deeper in the seat, but then you have to add the seat rail adapters that raise you back up - so I think it is sum-zero on height.

Success!  E-mailing back and forth with Travis at Iron Spade Cycles.  He will make me a tank in steel, for what looks like 1/2 the cost of the guys in California.

Tank is coming off when I get home.  This will give me an opportunity to replace the non-working speedometer.

I can only wait so long before taking stuff apart you know.

Tank is off, and I went and talked to Travis today.  The project has kicked off.  I think we are both on the same page, so I think this will work out fine.  He thinks he can paint the tank, and while I am a little worried, I agreed.  I guess it can always be re-painted.

I'll take pics when I get it back.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
