Will this fit my newly acquired 1970 1600? How can I tell?

Yes, a shallow grille (essentially a U.S. 1973 model phenomenon) will fit any round taillight car.  A 1970 1600-2, of course, originally wore deep grilles, and grilles without any blacked-out slats.

Steve

Thanks

Agreed, I certainly see a deep grill on the right (passenger) side.  And it’s probably a deep grille on the left (driver) side as well.

When selling grilles, I find that most sellers take one photo head-on. And  then they take another from the reverse side of the grille.  No one can distinguish from such photos whether a grille is deep or shallow.  For others to see whether a grille is deep (the norm: ‘66 through ‘72 U.S. models) or shallow (the exception: ‘73 U.S. models), you need a photo of the grill in profile, from an “outside” lower angle.

Steve
